What's so hard about a fence??
Answer:
You're right. I could build it in a few months. It doesn't have to be perfect just slow em down. If the fed's don't take care of it the States better do it themselves. But don't get the Corp involved it would take 10 years for them to write the spec's on it and it would cost $1200.00 per foot.
We'd better get on this pretty quick. Chavez is training Arabs to speak spanish and pass themselves off as Mexicans. There's more than mexicans looking for jobs comming across that border.
it is a waste of money and very expensive. it will not work. the great wall of china is a perfect example. it cost a lot and did not work. the darn mongols just went over the fence or around it. show me a fifty foot fence and i will show you a fifty-one foot ladder.
we need many things in USA much more than this silly fence
How about rebuilding new orleans and hiring the local people to do it instead of bringing in the mexicans?
If they build a fence and stop the immigrants, how will they use the immigration problem to get elected? Politicians that follow the two party system aren't out to solve problems. They need those problems so they can use it against the other party to get elected. They can't exist without them.
I agree with you we need a wall so don't allow the immigrants take over CA.
it can be done. are president likes the sucking that's going on.
Mining and booby-trapping the border is much cheaper.
Nothing hard about a fence but it is an enormous waste of money because it will not stop illegal immigration.
I would like to see DAR post some a reliable source to show that the fence works.
as hawndawg said. it is expensive and will not work. people will find a way around it or over it. it's just going to be a big waste of money. if people want to come over here, they will. with or without a fence.
Well, good lord!! Run on down there and give em' a hand!! They need help down there and they also need donations for fencing and supplies. It's not like we have the entire Army Corps. of Engineers down there. We only have volunteers. Git 'r' Done!!
Nothing hard about the fence, its a good start, it will not stop illegal immigration, only enforcement of our laws will. Take a good look at those who do not want it, Mexico, Liberals, and big business, they all want a stop sign.
It's alot less effective than punishing those who hire them. If there are no jobs for them, they won't come here.
Imagine if you could move to a country that would entirely support you - free rent, free food, free medical/dental, free education, free everything and if you FEEL like working, a job. AND they would learn your language to accommodate you AND the people were so afraid of being called racist or appearing politically incorrect that they all but turned their entire paycheck over to you...wouldn't you climb a fence/wall/cross a scorching desert to get that? I mean, if you didn't mind breaking the law and exploiting the people of another country for your own gain.
We need to look at WHY they are coming and eliminate the reason.
It works, ergo, they don't want one.
Vote out anyone who voted for it who doesn't push for it.
so true but unfortunately that labor force is illegals. Didn't you read about the Mass. construction company who obtained a contract to start building a fence on the border and later on was fined 5 million dollars for having hired illegals to help build it. oh the irony of it all ,lol
No one said the fence was a 100% solution...it's part of a solution. I don't beleive it's nearly as hard or as expensive as the government wants to make it. Hey Canada is securing their border....300 some odd million dollars. It's common sense to secure our borders. I'm with you.......get er done. The sooner the better. The Minutemen are down there working for free and getting something done through donations. If the government won't.....the people will.
A lot of places would go bankrupt if they had to pay the workers the legal way. The government don't want it because they would lose too many votes/donations (from big business) . Big business don't want it, cause its cheap labor and the rest of us, well, we just pay and pay and pay. That is what is wrong with that. A fence, we pay again, bullets are cheaper but there are no guarantees. I said years ago and have repeated it plenty of time since, between affirmative action and political correctness, America is going down the tube. Alas
Theres alraedy plans for that although i cannot prove it. theres going to be two razer wire fences with a road in between them for transport vehicles. theres going to be a wacht tower every mile with an armed guard. this wall will also be put up so people cannot go to canada when the draft happens
You know its all about wages. They get paid very little down their. Those countries need to start developing and their should be unions to bring their pay cheques up. I am not talking our minimum wage. Just have it so they make american 2 dollars a hour. Or the same as they would make at say, a orchard of some kind. This would greatly help on the ilegal immigrant issue. The main issue is jobs and pay, and when they look to the USA thats all they can see. Just as many of our ancestors did so long ago. However to much and it becomes a problem. Thats what we are faced with today, 6 billion people on this blue and green ball. So thats my idea. Do not build a fence, the goverments of more developed countries should try to put pressure on the goverments of those countries to increase minimum wage. Or those countries that are stable enough to form unions should.
Mexico has already indicated that the fence will work.
A fence attempts to lock in and out and while it may work - a dog can dig under - a bird can fly over - and man being smarter will figure away pass it. Better to control the reason on why they come here. I said numerous times - make them register. Fine companies who heir unregistered illegals. Have the illegals only able to cash a check (no cash awarded to them) at post offices. There the check once cleared will have tax & SS witheld. These workers can't get SS benefits unless they become a citzen. Their taxes & SS will offset the services they steal from us.
Fence will not reduce migration becuase will adapt or evade the fence secruity systems over time. Going after employers is probadly a better place, but Bush republican party would lose voters in the business lobby doing that. Well, the republcains want the lowest dollar labor, and use margialization of migrants to accoplish thier diabolical task. The fence is a smokescreen, and in the end we will spend billions tearing it out 30 years later because of economic intergration concerns, and taxpayer will balk at the cost in the long run. Consifcation of employers assests hiring unathorized workers thru leins, and repossions would be a lot more effect, but as a said the republican party likes the labor cheap as possible, and the democrats want the easy votes. The whole thing makes me sick
We should continue to erect that fence. It is deterring illegal entry, it's already proven useful. No one ever said it was the only thing to do to deter illegal entry. Punish those who hire them, take away their incentives (welfare, food stamps, low cost housing, medical care, Social Security<which they ARE going to get if we don't make a loud noise against), deport those here, no amnesty. They will stop coming in such enormous numbers and many here will leave. All of those things together will reduce illegal immigration to a controllable number.
