I-140 Information?
I'm registered nurse and applied for US through my agent. I am unaware of the procedure. I received an email today from my agent that my I-140 was approved on 20th Sep 2006.
I wonder why he didnt inform me earlier about this. What comes next? By the way, what is I-140? and whats the procedure there after? Does that mean my Green Card application is approved? How much time will it take there after before I can move to US?
I have a lot of questions apart from these. If anyone who really knows what I'm talking about, please answer. I would be extremely thankful for your expert advice on this matter.

The USCIS I-140 is used to petition for an alien worker to become a permanent resident in the United States. This form was filed on your behalf by your employer. It was processed at the USCIS Service Center that has jurisdiction over your (proposed) place of residence in the US.
That the petition was approved over six months ago is a matter for you to take up with your agent - I assume you paid a substantial amount of money for your agent's professional assistance, especially if you paid for Premium Processing.
The approved I-140 petition provides the basis for you to file the USCIS I-485 application for adjustment of status as a Lawful Permanent Resident, if you are already in the US. If you have not already done so, file that now. Check, though, to be certain that your priority date is still current, which may be an issued due to the lapse in the I-140 approval notification. If you are outside the US, you will need to contact the nearest US foreign mission to arrange for consular handling of your immigrant visa, which is again based on the approved I-140.
