Does an AmericanFilipino Dual-Citizen, do you have to apply for a visa or are you automatically given one?
Answer:
If you have both USA and Philippines citizenship you can travel under either passport so any countries which do not require Americans to have visas will still not require you to have a visa as before. Having an extra citizenship makes no difference to your rights to travel as an American.
I am not an AmericanFilipino Dual-Citizen, but I am a citizen of 2 other countries.
If you want some advice, don't call yourself "AmericanFilipino Dual-Citizen" at customs, embassies etc... just use whichever passport suits you better, no one needs to know you are a citizen of 2 countries. Use this to your advantage.
I recommend you travel on your US passport as many countries do not need a visa or it is easier to get one before you travel with US passport. When going to the Phillipines, use your Filippino passport. In any case, theck the website of the embassy of the country you want to visit and check if you need a visa as US citizen.
You will not need one for either of your citizenship countries,
and some/many countries allow US tourists in for up to 2 weeks without any visa,
but for the EU (including GB) & for longer stays, you will need to apply for a visa months in advance like everybody else.
Dude, just think this one through, you don't need to be Einstein to figure this one out.
It goes like this: if you were to become a dual Fil-Am citizen (what for I don't know), and you decide to go Switzerland for example (where FIlipino citizens are required to have a swiss-issued visa)......to circumvent that YOU SIMPLY USE YOUR U.S. PASSPORT WHEN YOU ENTER/LEAVE Swiss immigration. IOW, don't present your Filipino passport to the Swiss. Well, that wasn't that hard, eh?
