Should America just let everyone who wants to come here to work for a better life come?
Answer:
I agree and whats worry me is what will america be in the next 20 years..we let to many in and we arent hard on them...not learning english is down right lazy..changing america to suite immigrants is wrong. This is america and if you want to be here you should learn the american ways and live by them..if you cant go home.
should america lure people here to exploit them for their cheap labor then wait until they have families then decide to tell them to go home?
this should be interesting...
No!
But we need smart borders because one way or the other all immigrants need documentation...
No, America is not a big soup kitchen that's open to everyone...prepare yourself for the smart@ss rhetorics.
Absolutely not. If we take on everyone in the world who wants to be here, our country will fail.
No we do not have enough room for everyone.
Yes, if it is done by legal means. And you do not have any idea of people's convictions, so calling someone a liar makes you an egotistical dumb@ss.
sounds like our immigration policy!
your type could have a welcome mat but until we can order a burger in english...sorry.
why should anyone on this planet take you serious
if you immediately say that by disagreeing with you they are wrong.
didn't they let your great grandparents come here? Why wouldn't you let someone else have the same opportunity?
Rule of law
You CANNOT put the entire blame on illegals.
The US has historically ruined the economies of many countries, especially in Latin America. We have even supported murderous dictators over democratically elected Presidents. We've stolen lands from Mexico and then blamed the Mexicans for it! We then wonder "Why do THEY hate us?", when "they" is most of the world.
The people you're alluding to and dismissing as "invaders" are merely trying to survive and to provide for their families. I don't understand why your anger isn't directed at the people who hire them (restaurants, construction, maids, landscaping, etc) off the books. It all comes down to greed, in the final analysis. Wealthy countries exploit poorer ones for their cheap labor and natural resources all the time. What baffles me however is that people in wealthy countries seem genuinely surprised when that comes back to bite them in the ***. Lack of perspective and foresight, not to mention a basic understanding of economic realities.
THAT IS THE BIG PICTURE..
Hell no we shouldn't let everyone in. We would be dropping our quality of life and destroying our economy to make room for them! Government handouts would skyrocket, plummeting our economy to new depths! The only ones we should let in are the skilled, educated ones that will not be a burden on society, will contribute to it, learn English and assimilate into our culture!
Do you notice how YAnswers is, and the Internet in general actually, you're conversing with types you wouldn't even have over to your house for dinner in real life? There's the global community you'd have forced on you. And I'm not just talking about from Mexico or any other specific country.
Globalization.
No, we shouldn't let just anyone in - no country does. There should be better legal channels of immigration. More importantly, we should be helping other countries have a higher standard of living so their citizens will want to stay there. You can say it is not our job to help other countries, but ultimately it will help us. If the US put more effort into eliminating poverty we would have fewer immigration problems, more national security, & a larger global market in which to trade our goods.
They should allow as many people in as is needed to fill in some specialised work positions and keep agricultural establishments running.
Most illegal immigrants don't come to America expecting to work white-collar jobs. If immigrants don't work the low-paid jobs on farms, who else will work for such low wages? Where will the nation's food come from?
Everyone wants a piece of the pie. The reality is, not everyone in the world can have a piece of someone else's pie. There just isn't enough to go around.
I bet there was a time when the plantation owner would say, "who's gonna pick your cotton, who's gonna pick your watermelons."
how about we fix the problem with the illegals here?
then worry about the ones to come.
people die everyday you know. i really don't see a problem of "where will they all live and sleep?"
oh and i would of taken your question more seriously but you, like most people, have to target illegals from single country
thanks
yes we should...
if a saudi wants to come here to start a better life for themselves, there are legal ways to do so. if they follow the laws, then absolutely, 'welcome to america! Thank you for respecting our laws, i hope your life will be better.'
This country is based on immigrants. 'give us your tired, weak, and poor' should never change.
There are always two sides of the story, if you are worried about overpopulating the land, it will happen anyways, if you are worried about seeing more hispanics instead of americans at a walmart, it will also happen, the fact is that right now in this country there are more legal immigrants than the illegal ones, it is impossible to send back to their countries all those millions of immigrants because of all of the expenses that the us govt will end up paying for, the only way to slow it down was that law that just got cancelled in the senate, because that law was based in two major points, one: make legal everyone thats already inside, BUT the other part that the media didnt mention was that such law was going to finally end up with illegal immigration, and its because after such law, any illegal alien in this country will become a criminal, right now its not a crime to be illegal, call the police and see it yourself, right now all of the people already inside are helping the economy, not hurting it, of course if you let more people in, yes, it will affect negatively the economy, but right now, its not, always try to see things from the other side too.
Remember that all the people immigrating to america are immigrating because of the effect that us politics had all over latin america during 1960's trough mid 1980's, the only solution will be to reform the laws, remember that you are thinking of 12million people become legal citizens (which maybe a tenth of them are a hazard to society), while there are millions of americans that can REALLY affect negatively the economy of the country by doing the same thing they have been doing everyday (smoking and selling narcotics to our children). There is a problem and there is a solution.
I am proud to be an american, but I am also aware that in order to win, sometimes you have to make sacrifices in order to achieve the ultimate goal, remember that there IS a God who's going to judge your way of thinking, not only about this matter, but about the way you behave in society.
Yes, that was how America was built, by people who came here for a better life, however you go back 30 years, you had to have a sponsor that can verify that you were going to work, and learn English, and become a citizen. Now we have 11+ million people who came here illegally, somehow got a job, REFUSE TO LEARN English and are screaming that we are denying them they're civil rights, when they have no rights to scream about. Even if come over as a legal immigrant you can refuse to learn English. Here in DuPage county Illinois, you have the option, in case you can't/don't speak/read English good enough, you can vote for the President of the United States on a ballot card that is written in Chinese. We Americans have learned to bend over and kiss EVERYBODY's A*S, because we don't want to offend ANYONE. I say we find the 11+million illegals send them home, and if that offends anyone kick them out as well. That will open a lot of places for the people who want to come over here legally.
as a legal immigrant and US citizen I, of course believe that people should be allowed to live here! I am from Eastern Europe and I love this country just as everyone else does. Have people started to live on your front lawn and did someone take your job? I don't really see how this is affecting you at all. The people this is affecting is immigrants who are trying to get papers, and trust me, it is NOT easy to become a citizen even when you come here legally. It takes years and years and years. This country does NOT let everyone in.
I agree with you. We are a big country but were not that big.We need people who wish to build up America not tear it down by being takers.
