If someone asks you to leave your home and walk into a burning fire, would you do it? of course not! These people are desperate, they come from countries with so little, they had nothing but the clothes on their backs. WHY would they voluntarily leave the USA and their jobs? As far as I can see it, the USA has two options - create jobs in other countries ( tough to do, as many are corrupt, will steal from the companies trying to get a foothold, engage in extortion, etc ), or let them in as Temporary workers / guest workers. There are no easy answers for us or them. But they won't leave voluntarily, I can tell you that. What's their incentive? None. Come up with a solution, and the world will hail you as a savior.
Just so you remember, every person in the United States who is not a Native American, is an immigrent, and probably an illegal immigrent according to Native Americans...

Well 300 years ago, you're right, we stole the land from the native Americans. However, here we are today in the year 2007. Do you want to see your state budget nearly triple in negative numbers due to illegal immigration? Not to mention a large number of the illegals entering from Mexico are wanted criminals in THAT country. Do you want to live in fear of being robbed and or raped in a mall parking lot. Look I sympathize with the plight of all the Mexicans who are really just trying to find a better way of life in the states. That in and of itself is what brought all immigrants to the US. But there has to be some control over how many people and who we allow to come into the USA.

We cant just ask them to leave, most wouldnt understand. or would pretend not to understand, whats being asked of them. We are ultimately to blame for their being here, yet whats causing the problem isnt something we seem to feel the need to correct. Bill Clinton signed NAFTA into effect, basically making it so that poorer laborers and farmers in Central America who were BARELY making it at all before, lost everything they had. It was too expensive to ship their produce (especially in small amounts) north to the US, and OUR products were cheaper than ever, so they went belly up. WE are the great economic powerhouse of the western hemisphere, so where else COULD they go? Had Brazil been more economically set, and didnt have a border fence, they would have gone south instead. We as a nation, turned our backs to the problem starting about 14 years ago, when California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas started yelling about how they were going broke from having to provide housing, schooling, and healthcare to a mess of non tax paying immigrant workers who werent going back to Mexico... we didnt know that was the start of the trend... comming here to work had been going on for decades.. but they almost ALWAYS went back. Now, there was nothing left to go back to *NAFTA* fixed that for them. But we ignored it too long and it got worse.. soon the second tier and third tier states started to complain about needing more help in balancing their state budgets. Now there are massive amounts of non tax paying illegal immigrants throughout most all of our states, and were waking up to it.
But a problem ignored does NOT go away easily. Its gonna take money, and a willingness to say "Hey... our parents and grand parents had to do it the legal way, so do you.. get the hell out!" We need several things to happen. The repeal of NAFTA and GAT, a safe, secure, REAL border with mexico.. EVERY INCH must be secured. And those here illegally must be deported. ALL of them... even the children born here. When a crime is committed and someone else benefits from that crime they are prosecuted too... *or said benefit is taken away* Possibly with restrictions upon them that will NOT allow them to return. (they've already shown that they arent willing to follow a very simple law... legal immigration... sign up and wait your turn)
You would think that with the huge number of Blue-collar jobs going over seas congress would see that adding 10 million working poor would be a bad thing. This will continue widen the gap between the rich and poor in this country which has never been good for us. But its hard to see that when your pandering for votes!

I believe they are going to get pissed off if we don't start building more ERs (the present ones they have already clogged) or if we don't start providing more Spanish teachers for their free education (too many of them have to drop out of school early, this might reverse that trend); but NO, I don't think they will leave; they will continue to suffer with our "racist" society who wishes to suppress them and they will stay and probably come in greater numbers; perhaps we could lobby our political leaders to institute sensitivity training in the workplace and schools so that we may become more accepting of illegal aliens
