Who can tell me any Pros and Cons for the new passport law?

Just to clarify, to RETURN to the US you will need your passport
Pros
- much harder for black market to create fake US passports than licenses (affect that method of illegal immigration)
- creates image of tighter security
Cons
- little help in deterring illegal immigration
- longer lines at customs
- less Americans travelling abroad because they refuse to get a passport or can't find it (hurts tourism-based economies)
- tons of people applying in a short time period will create a backlog = more waiting time
- US Citizens not being let back into their own country
- More US passports being stolen outside the US
Let's see, getting a passport is more difficult now, it's required for Mexico and Canada (so there go mission trips with the church), and it has an RFID chip that can be read by others so they know which body to shoot at. I don't see any pro arguments at all.
America needs to know just who is entering this country. I think it's good as it tracks people from countries of interest
there are ZERO long term cons. why people have a problem with this is beyond me. it's just like that darn metric system...why the heck is the US the ONLY country who is not using it???? why don't we do what the rest of the world does?? the rest of the world uses a passport!!!! we need to use one too!
