Question about the immigration bill and LEGAL immigrants?

What, if any, "hoops" did the legal immigrants have to jump through that the illegals will end up avoiding under the new law?

Does anyone have specific information? Thanks.

Answer:
Generally a "legal" immigrant is one that either married a US Citizen, sought and was granted political assylum, made application and showed either a US Sponsor that would give employment or has documented certification of unique skills that are in a short supply. They made application and paid fees to cover the expenses of criminal background checks and security checks. They waited until they had proper approval from the US government to enter and done so through a legitimate "Port of Entry". Or they were here legally on a "Temporary Visa" for school, work or as a tourist, but again, they paid the necessary fees and were investigated and approved prior to their entry through a legitimate "Port of Entry".

The illegals are going to be "made to comply" with certain immigration procedures to get their "Z Visa", but they will be "fast tracked" to legal status.

This will likely undermine the investigation process as well as delay the legal entry of many people from many nations that have gone through all the "hoops" due to the commitment of resources to the criminals. We will also have a major influx of illegals before border security gets tighter so that they can register for the Z Visa Program.

In my opinion, all of these probable consequences are unfair to those seeking legal entry, a threat to our national security, a deadly risk to higher numbers of illegal crossers because of the desert environment or the rivers and irrigation canals that they must forge or the sealed tractor trailers with no ventilation and summer heat.

Oh ya, in case you missed it, it still boils down to granting amnesty and citizenship to millions of people that knowingly, and premeditatedly broke our laws (CRIMINALS). That in itself should be enough to outrage every US citizen.
ant it just fuckedz up
I know legals have to wait on a waiting list to be approved. Sometimes it takes years. If you are petitioned by someone who already lives here it can be faster though. It also can cost a lot of money. That it is why many people don't do it the legal way. I wish they would do it the legal way though. It works out better for everyone in the long run. I have friends from the Philippines that are currently petitioning for some of their family.
They have to actually apply to become a legal immigrant first (something that the illegals didn't do), which can be very expensive.
Then, they have to get background checks.
Once they get their green cards, they then can come here and work, go to school, open a business, whatever they intended to do.
This cost $1000's of dollars (something that illegals didn't do, unless you consider that many pay coyotes to bring them here illegally)!
