Answer:
What happened to you at the border is probably just a one time occurrence. The fact that you have always returned to India is helping you a lot. I would suggest that when you arrive you show your return ticket to the officer, clearly explain the reason for your visit, your grandson's birthday. Have a letter of invitation from your family stating how long you are going to stay and that you are going to stay with them. If the officer still gives you trouble point out how long you have had a visa and that you have never abused it although you have been to the US previously.
I see no reason why should you be denied entry. With a visitor visa you are allowed to stay for 6 months, however it is in the discretion of the immigration officer to limit the time of your visit. If they try to do it tell them that your grandson's birthday is in August.
One more thing, since you want to stay for a couple of months i would suggest you to look into some health insurance you can purchase in India that covers you in the US for the time of your visit. Medical bills can run very high here.
If your family is here in the US,
I say pack them all up. and have everyone move back to india.
you should not take that.
and if everyone in your family moves to india, that will show the US goverment that you are mad.
I found this site very useful.
They can guide you properly.
