Owning a house and a car does not prevent someone from getting food stamps. One has only to go on the websites and read the qualifications to know that. It is NOT based on what you own and it clearly states the dollar value of what you may have and that is way under. Nice try..but no cigar for you.

Thats so sad, and probably true. When i go grocery shopping i always get stuck behind some mexican using wic checks to pay for all this formula. As for super chee...your a dummy..I worked for social work for a few years, and if you own your house and or a car, you can be turned down for foodstamps because you have assets. so dont come in here talking about stuff you know nothing of.

Mexicans make me sick. They dont pay taxes and they DO COLLECT WELFARE. I saw this first hand. The woman would move here and have babies, which now were legal citizens. The men would be here illegal. So what they would do is, the woman files for medical, food stamps, cash assistance, WIC, etc and she claims no father for the children so she gets a buttload of free stuff each month. The man however, does live with her and is the father, but they never marry so she says she doesnt know who father is, so he doesnt even pay child support. Since she is legal because of babys born here, she CAN AND DOES COLLECT WELFARE. The man brings home money from work, and now they can spend that on stuff like iphones, since they get section 8, free food, and free cars from carsforchange.com
Some people are ignorant to what these illegal immigrants get, and how they scam to get it. I worked in social services and saw all this go on. It's bullcrap

Correct me if i am wrong. I haven't seem people using food stamps for long time. The area where I live, poor people make purchase by sliding the govt issued card into machine. Therefore, when you are talking about food stamps, I think your story is kind of bogus. BTW, I don't understand why so many ppl here complain about the illegals getting welfare? Don't htey suppose to be a citizen and poor in order to get assistance? If they don't have a valid i.d, how do they get the benefit?
You don't have to prove your citizenship to get food stamps, I know it's a joke but unfortunately the joke is on hard working Americans who pay for those food stamps & even then the people like you mentioned who live on $600 a month can't get them.SAD.
Food stamps are for poor people.not for homeowners who have assets.
Those "poor old people" can downsize their residence, sell the old place and pocket the profit.

As to the "mexicans" using food stamps..like everything else the government doesn, the food stamp industry is rampant with corruption. There is a huge black market for food stamps where they can be purchase for a percentage of the face value. Unless those Mexicans were here legally, they bought those food stamps on the street. Undocumented immigrants are not eligible for local, state or Federal benefits.

I have seen this, too. It's disgusting. Yet my husband was cut off of state medical assistance because he makes too much money, even though we're barely scraping by right now. Why would they cut the medical for the one person who is making the money in this house?
BTW the Gov't issued card is called EBT and the food stamps and cash assistance payments are loaded onto the card. They are still called food stamps. It's obvious to anyone who's looking that the card says EBT (making it obvious that the person using it has either stamps or state cash, or both, DUH!)
And they get the benefits by stealing (or recieving stolen) citizens' ID, or by pushing out them anchor babies.
