I f you got marrie with a mexican girl and you are a US citizen you can apply for a mexican citizenship so you can own land and get same rights just the legal residents in USA.
Why be worry about it? If you travel and you want to explore the whole world you might want to get some rights to do it and own some properties in a legal way isn't it? Well, sometimes (in most of the cases) retire people find love in other countries and they don't think in a "green card" why not an orange or blue or yellow one? They just want to live as everybody else and enjoy of some goods before they die.
No, an alien or immigrant, legal or otherwise, does not become a citizen automatically upon marriage to a citizen. There is a process of applying, processing and (hopefully) eventual approval by the Federal government. First is Permanent Residency status ("Green card"). Not automatically. You have to apply, wait, and pay like everyone else. I wouldn't marry for citizenship either, that's marriage fraud and you will be deported if caught, and you can probably kiss any chance of getting citizenship here good-bye. Marry for love, and be prepared to wait. Nothing good comes automatically.
