How much SMARTER and HONORABLE would it have been to see AMERICAN flags carried as an allegiance ?

to this country instead of flying their own flag. That was the dumbest thing they did. If they loved America and wanted to be here, they should have HONORED OUR FLAG < not their own.
If you want to be here, love and respect this nation, and let go of the rest !!

Answer:
It sure didn't HELP them any. No matter, illegally entering ANY country without following that country's laws is grounds for punishment. They are fortunate in that the USA doesn't handle illegal immigrants like some other countries do. Such as many, many years of imprisonment, beatings, hangings, beheadings, etc. They should leave our country before the pi$$ed off Americans take matters into their own hands. Our government has failed us, it's PAST time WE took care of the problem. The illegal immigrants don't give one rats @zz about the USA except the handouts they get at the citizens expense. This is not their land or their home and they should haul their butts back to where they came from or face severe retaliation by the true, BRAVE, loyal, faithful American citizens of the USA.

You are a prime example of the failing educational system in the USA. We wasted good money on YOUR education. You need to go try again, the first one didn't sink in.
please add more details...

I think alot of foreigners are here for our money not our country values. When the going gets rough they will go away. Mom used to call them fair weather friends...
I completely agree with you. If it wasn't for things such as that I wprobably would be more accepting of them wanting to be here.

That turned a lot of pople off!
Well, if you will flash back to the immigration marches, they all carried Mexican flags. So, why dont they go back if they care more about Mexico than the country they are in and who is paying them for their work???
The only Flag to be flown in this Country should be the American Flag....all other country's flags should be banned, except for when a foiegn dignatary is in town.
Amen, but good luck convincing them to do that. As long as we keep acquiescing to their demands, they will keep taking.
I agree with the 2nd answer 100%.

Minutewoman is right on. They DO teach them that in school.

You are so right. If they, in the March, had displayed American flags it would have made the message much stronger. Problem is, that was not the message they wanted to send. This was a rally led by racist folks who want Mexico honored over and above others. Groups like La Raza, MECHA, PEW and more want "their" culture to be first.
Very much like the KKK. Not all these people are that way ...the little guys ...they are simple dumb pawns. I personally feel we need to be all over these somewhat racist groups. I guess unlike the KKK, they at least work within the law ...but it doesn't make the message any less bitter.
Look how easily all the folks on this sight scream racist at Americans in general who simply want their laws inforced. Shows you who we are dealing with. Racist stupidos.
That would have been the smartest thing they could have done. But that would have been too much like sucking up to them, so they had to show their true feelings and intentions.
I have never seen an American flag, as far as I know there is no such thing. You see, there is no such a thing as ‘American’ nationality, America is not a nation America is a continent with many nations in it. The US never named itself the name of the United States is a designation it comes from the end of the Declaration of Independence, "WE, therefore, the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled...". The preamble to the U.S. Constitution reiterated the phrase: "We the People of the United States..." (The authors of these two documents probably used the phrase "united states" in place of a list of colonies/states because they remained uncertain at the time of drafting which colonies/states would sign off on the sentiments therein.) The geographic term "America" specifies the states' home on the American continent.

It is therefor incorrect to refer to US citizens as Americans with the intent of denoting citizenship, or the United States as America with the intent of denoting a nation. Americans have a term for US citizens, we are called United Statesians by the rest of Americans, to say American with the intent of denoting citizenship or America when we mean the United States reflects poorly on our attitude towards the 70% of Americans that are not United Statesians.

Also, although some people would like to believe that America is not one but two continents North America and South America. If you think about it though the term U.S. of A. is a glaring example that this line of thought is incorrect, if America was two continents instead of one, shouldn’t it be U.S. of N.A. (North America)? We say Columbus discovered..... ? AMERICA, not South America or North America.

That said, it is likely that you mean United Statesian flag. While YOU may not have liked it, to expect a person fly a flag from another nation is simply put dumb, specially if that nation HAS NOT YET ACCEPTED THEM. Once the become United Statesian citizens THEN they will proudly fly the United Statesian flag. For now though, they still are Mexican citizens seeking a better life.

Hope that helps.
Sounds like you've never been to Little Italy in New York or to a Saint Patrick's day parade.
The American flag is the only flag that should be honored in our United States. It's dumb and disrespectful to display flags of another country.
They do so under the illusion that the land belongs to them. They teach this in Mexico schools that America stoled their land.
maybe we should try and be more humanistic.... some people came out of desperation, and maybe they miss home? i don't know. it's weird...i agree with you....but, i try to be understanding too. when i was living abroad, i would do weird things too...like go to mcdonalds and sit there for an hour. or, eat a whole package of "american" cookies like Oreos. or draw little US flags on my notebooks, or pay a crazy amount for cable tv and put paper over the subtitles so they wouldn't remind me that i wasn't in the US. i just missed home. i wanted to be where i was for the experience, but i missed my home too. on the other hand, i did come back. people like that do have the wrong attitude, maybe they will eventually go home. i agree that you need to love and respect the nation, or leave...but i try and remember that there are lots of citizens here who badmouth the US in a much bigger way. the only difference is they were lucky enough to be born here. and i know some immigrants who are really angry with THOSE people! they say, "if you don't like it here, i'll take your place!! i love it!" so...who knows, there are lots of sides to this.

um...i think we say "american" to contrast the "United States of America" and "The United States of Mexico"....because we are so close together? But being that I lived in Mexico, I can tell you the accepted term for people from the US is "Americanos." There is the lesser used term being refered to as "United Statians," but it's rarely used in casual conversation. Since both countries begin with "The United States..." then by using "United Statians" you have not actually clarified anything.

I think the only time saying "Americans" in English is dumb, is when you go to Mexico and someone says, "Welcome back to America!!" when you get home. In that case, you should say "Welcome back to the US!" But in the case of the flag, and people...."Americans" is accepted by Mexico, and is common place around the world as well. Saying "United Statians" would again, confuse people and not clarify if you were speaking of Mexico or the US.
You just answered your OWN question!!!!
"If you want to be here, love, and respect this nation". Illegals do NOT "love" America!!!!!! They want to rape our country for their own selfish gain!!! "Respect"?? They only show us DISRESPECT, as demonstrated by their marches and demands!!!!!

You know the old saying, "There's NO honor among thieves?" Well, this definitely APPLIES to illegals!!!!
I agree. If you want to remain here, you should show love and respect for this country, it's culture, and it's people. You should admit your wrongs and be willing to work for a fair solution that takes everyone's needs and concerns into account. Just simply respecting our nation isn't enough, we have to realize the problems that illegal immigration causes and work to solve them in a fair way. Flying the flag of the USA isn't going to secure our border, and it isn't going to give back Medicare money or reopen hospitals either.
i agree with you 100%, you are soooo right.
It definately wasn't a smart move. One of many. I know later they tried to tell people to bring the American flag. But by that time.....the damage had been done beyond repair. You know there was bucks and master-minds behind these demonstrations.....unfortunatl... they didn't do their research. They did more to cause division than anything.

I did notice other people had their homeland flags. One in particular was the Chinese flag. I don't know how to explain the difference.....but they carried one flag, at waist level for their group. They yelled....but there wasn't the hate in their faces. They simply wanted amnesty. They didn't do the hate the "gringo" trip, or claim the nation would crumble if they didn't work a day, or carry signs to" go back to Europe "or "this is our land"...... they weren't DEMANDING things and the latino group certainly wasn't DEMANDING anything for them. They were the "token" other illegals so it didn't appear "racist".

You haven't seen a Chinese group go on TV saying to learn Chinese because it is the language of the future since so many of our businesses are going there. There weren't negative comments about the American consumer saying if our ports were closed and they took off work that our nation would crumble. Coz that would be more true than a day without Mexicans. There's more heartwrenching and dangerous stories about Chinese who came here illegally...but you don't hear about them. Theres horrid stories of smugglers and especially prostitution rings within their group....but you barely hear a word about those. Many have come from a life that makes Mexico look good....but you don't hear them "blaming" us. They aren't abusing our welfare system or "demanding" anything. Except hoping to be a citizen of this country. I still beleive they have to go but I have more "compassion" for them then I do for the Mexicans. There's alot in this area but I've never had them flip me off. I've never had them glare at me with hatred. They aren't "complaining" about learning English. And hey....they have to learn a whole new set of ABC's and everything else. Talk about "culture shock". Talk about hard workers. But you don't hear a peep. It's a totally different thing. And they are a different "race". Their country is rising in power and more feared I'd say in "global" economy than Mexico could ever be. It's just different. They weren't burning our flag. They atleast know what respect is and how not to bite the hand that feeds you. They probably have more to be ticked about than Mexicans do if they care to drudge up History. But they don't. Says alot.
Right on!! If they like Mexico or wherever they happen to be from, let them go back there. I'll be glad to point them in the right direction!
I agree with you 100 %, and yes there are people here who's life goal is to sound really smart, and correct all of those who use the term AMERICA, when we all know what we are talking about.
Flying American flags in the beginnig of the mayday marches would have been a smart move on the organizers part, too bad they did not think of the consequences of their actions. The repercussions of that day are still being felt. I agree with you, allowing a foreign nations flag to be flown in a protest of American laws was about the dumbest thing that was done that day, besides attempting to demand rights to which they have no claim. That whole protest was ill conceived.
Since when were illegal immigrants 'smart' or 'honorable'? They just wanted to lay out of work that day and get out school for half a day.
