I'm a US citizen, if my child is born outside of USA is he or she still a US citizen ?
Answer:
Depends where her birth was registered.
Yes--he or she would have dual citizenship I believe...of the USA,and the nation of birth.
Yes, and probably a citizen of what ever country they were born in.
They are yes but they need to be registered though
no, he would not be.
yes, your childs citizenship depends on the birth place of both parents ans where you regeister your childs birth.
i was born in canada, my parents are both english and i am english.
hope that helps
s
Yup and possibly eventually eligible for dual citizenship - USA plus birth country. I recommend that you do research, don't just depend on this web site.
YES
yes if the parent(s) of a child is an american citizen then that makes the baby a US citizen. The 14th amendment also says that citizenship promised along with due process and equal protection under the law.
Yes, if the other parent is not a US citizen then your child can choose either as their nationality or have dual nationality
off course
well that depends if u live in another country then no
Hell yeah !!!
Do not listen to these people. Your child is not immediately a citizen. You will have to prove many things before your child will be issued a United States birth certificate. Lot's of government red tape and whole lot of paperwork.
Have fun!
It all depends on your circumstances.
If you are LIVING in that country, then your child would be a citizen of that country, but if you are only visiting then they would be a US citizen. In both cases they may be eligible for dual citizenship.
yep.
Iwas born in Germany with English parents.
i am classed as British now and was issued British passport.
you CAN be registered in the other country as a citizen but unless its oz.UK or Canada would you want to?
I am told now i could apply for dual citizen ship but its not automatically available. So i think you have the option when registering the birth.
hope this helps a bit I'm bit sketchy on the detail now.
congratulations by the way
Both my daughters were born in Germany while there dad was stationed there, we had to apply for there American citizenship while they automatically had the German citizenship
Your child is not only a United States Citizen (because he or she is born of a United States Citizen), but also holds a dual citizenship in the actual country he or she is born in.
no you need to naturalize him or her i know for a fact my mother is a us citizen my youngest sister was born outside the US and she had to file paperwork to make a US citizen now she has double citizenship from the place ahe was born and that of the US
This is generally, but not always, the case. There are circumstances in which a US citizen parent did not reside in the US for more than 5 years after the age of 14, and only one of the parents is a US citizen, and the child does NOT automatically gain US citizenship. If your situation is in doubt, you may wish to consult a US consular officer in the country where you are living. And you might decide to fly back to the US to have your child so this can all be worked out.
Your child would have jus sanguins, which means citizenship by birth or blood. Jus soli is citizenship by soil, which your child would have if they were born within the country.
certainly.
Depends which country England as done away with the ruling
a child from another country can have british citizenship. If born here your baby will be American.
