Is it necessary to hire attorney to file petition papers to USCIS, or I can do it by myself?

With lawyers charging exurberrant fees on preparing or filing papers at USCIS, is it a prerequisite by the government to let lawyers as representative do the job or the applicant can do it by themselves to avoid paying more?

Answer:
I have done paperwork for people who needed to have petitions filed. it isnt neccessary to do so though, but it will depend on the situation. If there are other circumstances other than the filing that is needed, then a lawyer or a paralegal may be a good idea. Paralegals often do the same things that a lawyer will do and are often just as knowledgable but are much less costly. good luck!
No, you can do it all yourself. It's not mandatory to hire a lawyer. You can download the forms at :
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/m... .
Or check out the "immigration" section of www.legalzoom.com
you can do it yourself and risk making a mistake on form and having it kicked back.

spend the extra cash and have the attorney do it for you. sometimes they know shortcuts.

just remember that having a petition pending does not mean that a person is here legally. the person with the petition can still be deported if caught by ICE or BP.
