If someone has a green card and is a legit immigrant in the USA , how long until they can get US citizenship?

How many years and what requirements does someone need to get their American citizenship/passport. I`m born in Canada and just wonder how it compares to the Canadian citizenship requirements.

3 years if married to an American citizen
or after 1 year of honourable service in the armed forces
