Does this sound like the type of thing Pro- illegals would do?

Lawmakers were pointing to "empty boxes" at a press conference last Thursday, a Capitol Hill newspaper reports.
"At a pro-immigration rally Thursday, a group of politicians including Sens. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.), Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Rep. Joe Baca (D-Calif.) addressed reporters while picturesquely standing in front of an impressive tower of boxes they said contained letters from a million supporters of comprehensive immigration reform," Emily Heil reports for Roll Call's 'Heard on the Hill.'
According to a press release, the letters were part of the "Por la Reforma Migratoria con Piolín" campaign launched by Univision radio personality Eddie 'Piolín' Sotelo, and was touted as marking "the first time that a letter writing campaign has generated such a large number of letters in support of immigration reform."
"As the Members repeatedly referred to the letters and gestured toward the b

I have seen estimates for the true count of illegal’s in this country and its no where near the count that the media is telling us, try 38 million. Now where do you suppose they got over a million letters that are Pro-illegal’s. Folks we are being shafted again by our government and the media and if we don't wake up and say no then be prepared to hand over the rest of the jobs they say Americans won't do. The job that Americans won't do are the jobs that don't pay enough to live on, the illegal’s will just to get a foot hold driving down wages in the process. It is up to us not our Government and they have received more letters, faxes and emails that say no to illegal’s being given citizenship than they have received for the pro side so why don't you here about it, because they have an agenda and they don't care about Americans they are only trying to get more votes from people that broke the laws to get here. It is time to shut them down and stop this once and for all. See link below...
So wuts your point? They had a pro immigration rally which is a good thing.
Republicans SUCK
Not surprised.
are u aware than Piolin Sotelo organized a march in California and that more than a million and a half marched all across the country ?
i would say it doesn't sound like something impossible to accomplish for them ...
TIME TO WAKE UP :D
Over 1.5 million people took part in May Day demonstrations to support immigrant rights in one of the largest days of protest in the country's history. Across the nation immigrants refused to go to work or school in what was dubbed "A Day Without Immigrants." Major demonstrations were held in dozens of cities across the country. We hear some of the voices that spoke at rallies on the historic day. [includes rush transcript] In what is being called the largest day of protest in U.S. history, over 1.5 million people stayed away from work and school Monday to take part in nationwide marches in support of immigrant rights. In Chicago, organizers claimed a turnout of 700,000 people. In Los Angeles, at least 500,000. Here in New York, over 100,000 marched down Broadway. At least 75,000 people turned out in Denver, with thousands more in cities including San Jose, Phoenix, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Las Vegas and nearly 50 others.

note :
this was over a single day .
That sounds very typical of Washington events although I wouldn't restrict it to any particular group. I'm sure they can tell you exactly how many letters they have received. They keep a very close eye on that.
They also vote on bills that they haven't read because they don't actually exist in a printed form. No one knows exactly what's in an Omnibus Appropriations Bill until its printed and the dust settles.
It's politics as theater its a bipartisan game.
That just proves that pro-illegals will do anything to get their way. Even lie in front of a crowd. I'm glad they were caught lying, it shows ppl what were up agianst. We must be vigilant as ever! don't let your guard down! there's no telling what else they got up their sleeves.
Sounds like another dirty trick, so we are going to base our immigration policies on a Spanish language radio station's, letter writing campaign that serves the the sole purpose of granting amnesty to the very illegals that can not vote but can lobby our representative's. Where were the letters that the citizens of this country wrote, asking for our voices be heard.
If they think that showcasing a letter campaign written by illegals is going to give them the cover to pass this amnesty, over the wishes of the citizens, they are one sorry group
Bet the calls, faxes and emails, were a lot more than this . From ones who think the Amnesty Bill should die on the floor.
All they do is lie and manipulate,i'm not shocked.
Hope you aren't really surprised, These are Perfect Examples
of Finest Liars , money can buy. The Only reason Illegals show up at a Rally, is because of the Free Beer and Tamales after the Rally.
I heard about that.. just goes to show how much our politicians lie to us.. It's sad isn't it
dude that was foreals thought they weren't empty boxes...
they were actually full with over a million letters... dummy haven u been watchin the news... i saw about that thing and alot of people were givin him letters in the way to washington
that actually bringing the310 BOXES FULL of the real, dead-tree letters that Sotelo collected would have presented a SECURITY HEADACHE in a box-spooked world.
"As the Members repeatedly referred to the letters and gestured toward the boxes allegedly containing them as evidence of the support for the immigration bill that is struggling in the Senate, a crack Roll Call photographer on hand at the event began to grow suspicious," Heil continues. "He could see light shining through the handles of the boxes, indicating that they weren’t full."
Carlos Sanchez, spokesman for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, which helped coordinate the event, said that actually bringing the 310 boxes full of the real, dead-tree letters that Sotelo collected would have presented a security headache in a box-spooked world. “We didn’t want to put Capitol Police through the stress of having hundreds of boxes out there,” he said of the event’s Russell Park location.
Turns out, figuring out what the heck to do with the boxes is tougher than you’d think. Sotelo traveled with them in an 18-wheeler across the country to deliver them, but they couldn’t just be dumped at the Capitol. Now, nonprofit groups are divvying them up and will spend the next weeks sorting them by Congressional district for delivery to the proper Hill offices, Sanchez said
SUM PEEPLE BEE STOOPID !
thats funny my whole town signed them?
hmmmmmm.
oh i get it your full of it!
stop making lies
get a new real tactic against illegals!
No it doesnt. It sounds like they didnt want to organize and bring all the letters there. Obviously it was dumb to point to them as if they were there. But there is no doubt in my mind that there were that many letters. You seem to be grasping at straws to try and make it look like most of America is Anti. We cannot deport 12 million people...there is no funds for that. Reform will happen. You need to accept that, and find out how you can help.
It amazes me what politicians will do these days to sway public opinion. I used to say, "They must think they we are nothing but a bunch of brainless idiots!". Now I understand, there actually are an awful lot of those idiots out there that can be swayed by such theatrics. Who knows if the letters actually existed, if they were written by illegals, maybe even a few hundred writing a few hundred a piece. Keep up the fight...
How many of these so-called letters of support were written by illegals? They should all be tossed in the trash since political protest is a right reserved for American citizens only.
Oh yeah, forgot...the boxes were empty.
However, I would expect they would need dozens of 18-wheelers to transport the real letters of protest against that flawed bill.
Bet if they printed the emails, they would be printing til 2010.
Well for starters all of this illegal aliens, because that is what they are, again are playing the victim thing, and that has to stop. Our politicians need to open their eyes and say "stop". Immigration reform is pretty much a security thing that is still not approved by legislation, because of President Bush Administration. They now have this Comprehensive Immigration Reform, to assist our local border bothers and sister. I believe that this people need to go back to their countries, and do what they are doing here. Put their foot down and demand in their countries for their rights, Enough is Enough.
I am starting to believe that some of our reps. are illegals themselves! What a disgrace to the American citizens!!
