When did you last visit Mexico?
Doesn't seem unreasonable to me.
If you study Mexico or visit and talk with educated people....
They will tell you this....
Educated people get well paying jobs in Mexico, and wouldn't leave their homeland for anything. They make a good living based on their level of education.
The people who are making little to no money, are the ones who dropped out of school....free school!
These people had the means to be somethign more than a mere laborer at minimum wage. They were given a FREE opportunity to do so. They didn't make a good choice, and gave it up.
The world needs ditch diggers too I guess.
Why should I pay taxes to help an illegal immigrant, who refuses to help himself.....either in the past by blowing off his education, or now by trying to "dodge" the legal system of becoming a LEGAL alien?
Answer:
I am from Mexico, i live in Mexico and I love Mexico.
Some of those things you say are true, but that's not entirely true.
I am as you say "educated people" and i make a good living based on my education and hard work. But... it's not as easy as you say.
There are not enougth jobs, not only for those who have studied, but for those who haven't been able to finish their studies.
Yes, there's the posibility to have free education, but you haven't seen the way the families live, while the kids go to those free school, because they have no work to buy food and clothes, even a house to live comfortable.
The parents aren't educated either, so they haven't teach their kids the only way is that studying, they have live with their hands work and not studies, so the only thing the kids know and hear is about try everyday to survive.
From very young ages they don't know that's the better way, and sometimes, the only way is to find something to do to help in their houses.
I'm sure lot of people who have leave Mexico and go to your country, is because they don't want to make an effort, but there are lots of them who are there working as hard as you or me.
But they really didn't got the oportunities. I know some of them!
About 3 years ago. Thanks for asking.
since the last season of laguna beach :P
hmm.. i never hear that part about the schools.. i think if they had school here like that, where its free if u do good, american teenagers would be a lot smarter...
this morning, im here illegally :D ha ha
Last summer. They have the most beautiful beaches.
1986
Well said. And if it's true, they shouldn't come here and get the welfare set aside for citizens of the USA when hard times beset them.
your right. i agree 100%
WOW! I never knew that! I agree with u 100 % Lets get all illegal immigrants outta here!
how about you try living in Mexico for a while since you have an education and its an american education you might get lucky and get a great job. I'm cheering you on... go get em tiger
please give me your sources on that,,,
Last week, just to hit the duty free and bring back my cheap booze, other than that, don't have any other need to go there.
Never
Wow...that was a lot to chew! I've been to Juarez back in the early 80's. Very nasty. I've heard that other parts of Mexico are wonderful, though. We have programs to help the poor such as social security and welfare (revamped or not...it's still welfare). They don't. Kids begging on the street...handicapped people begging on corners...it's a sad sight. I agree with helping LEGAL immigrants get a leg up, but not illegal. It's a slap in the face to our legal immigrants to just give amnesty.
November 2006, we go several times a year.
school is NOT free, you must pay. Also you must pay to get there, they do not have school busses, you must take a combi (a packed volkswagon bus) or walk. chances are you do not have a vehicle since gas prices there are higher than here. And your taxes pay our govt, pay our welfare and parks and roads, that does not mean that if illegals were not here that you would pay any less, so stop your bitching, go to Mexico, central Mexico, or Chiapas and talk to the folks there, you might learn a thing or two. Be sure to mention that you are anti and a racist, they'll love that!
we have free primary education in this country too..too many of us tho think we don't need school to be somebody and too many Americans are lazy with high self esteem, which is why someone with what should be a 4th grade education won't work for less than 15 bucks an hour
NEver been.
First of all let me tell you that I really like your question, you have a strong anti illegal point there. But my answer to that would be that most uneducated people who drop out of school in Mexico didn't do it because it was their choice, but because their parents made them. If you talk to those people again, I bet you they all dropped out anywhere form the first to the fifth grade. A kid that young doesn't feel the need to get out of school and cannot take decisions by themselves. It was a situation where their parents made them quit just so they could work and help with the expenses, and the only reason they put them in school in the first place was just so they could learn how to read and write. I would strongly agree with you if it had been their choice to have such a life, but for the most part they were forced to do so.
as far as I'm aware some of the best education happens in poor countries. the opportunities to earn from these skills are not there. that's why they come to developed countries not because they want to but out of need to provide for their families most people don't plan on staying and send money back home. while this don't solve the problem in their own countries developed countries such as the u.s are taking full advantage of the money to be made out of illegal immigrants. if you don't know how i suggest you research it.
OK so you want to discuss education as a reason for immigration. how many doctors and nurses teachers and other professionals are non American? don't that tell you something about the state of the education system? or even give you a clue as to why immigrant workers take the positions or why they are needed?
You are pretty ignorant. Don't judge people you don't know, and make a broad comment on what may be just a few. You are discrimminating so many people with no right to do it. You need more education yourself. Fact is, these people come here and work harder than all our american *****, so shut up, as they clean your house, rake your yard, cook your food and wash your dishes, because so many of us are like you.....that is why they have the low paying jobs they have here. If you had a brain, you would not have posted such a discriminating question.........................
Well tell that to the pro illegals.America is supposed to take care of everthing,I think Americans are tired of being **** on,we arent going to take care of everything anymore. Its about time we take care of our own,the ones who fought for this country to start with. They go without medical or even ameal so we can take care of ingrates, freeloaders.Wake up America.
well, in answer to your original question, i visited mexico 5 years ago.
and yes, that eduction system seems fair. but like communism, it fails to integrate two of those most human of traits: greed and laziness.
why work for 7 years to become a doctor when you can become a labourer in america for almost as much? the polish plumbers in the UK now make more than the average graduate, i think that its very much the same in the US.
i know paying tax sucks, but lets face it, whichever government we vote in is hardly gonna spend it wisely, all the parties are as corrupt and inefficient as each other
Mexico is also 500 times as xenophobic as anyone I have ever known. But, they are the closest place I can drive to and get Cuban cigars. Wish we would lift that stupid embargo.
I don't visit that country anymore where I get eye-raped by every person there.
July-August of 2001, it was my first trip, I'm sure I will go back.
You are so way off about this. First, the education system is not comparable to ours. My brother in law has a bachelor degree (electrical engineering , close I am not sure what they call it) and can not get a job making any amount of good money there. Where are you getting this BS from? You also need to know that many children start working in Mexico as young as 5 to eat. So you need to recheck where ever you are getting your info. It is not free to get a higher education there as it is not here. Most people can not afford it there.
Your info you get from your friend in Ixtapa, that is a nice place. It is a tourist place. It's alot different if you go to the real poor places.
92.2% of the total population in Mexico aged 15 and over can read and write.
Male: 94%
Female: 90.5% (2003 est.)
Your taxes do not go to the undocumented and most of undocumented can speak more than one language. :D
Last tour to Mexico 2003
I visit all the time. I don't know where you get your information but nothing in Mexico is free. Congratulations on your education but I think you were to busy studying and didn't learn anything about the world you live in.
