Well Mel is right there is a lot of lobbying done representing Miami Cubans. The way many studies show and the way I saw it in Miami, the Cubans are very pro-American. They hate Fidel Castro and it's mainly their voice that is keeping this blockade and embargo going. However, I never knew there was a way to operationalize respect and test to see how many Cubans have respect. I think that's a bit racist and unnecessary.
And you're right Kaliman, many Mexican immigrants actually help stimulate the economy. The age old saying, "They're taking our jobs" has been debunked by numerous studies that show immigration is a benefit to the economy. The issue of employment is absolutely unaffected by immigration.

I don't know what you're talking about. Miami has benefited from the cuban population. All the cubans that came to Florida have prospered and never been on the welfare rolls. The most colorful part of Miami is Little Havana. There were some criminals that Fidel Castro sent on the Mariel boatlift, but overwhelmingly the vast majority of Cuban Americans are upper middle class, they are very anti-Castro and vote republican. Yes Miami has big city crime and there are a lot of African-Americans there living below the poverty line, but Cuban crime is minimal. Most of the major drug
dealers in Florida are from Colombia.
