I think it's a great idea!!! And believe that more financial institutions should so the same. Other Financial Institutions already offer other checking and mortgage programs to customers without Social Security numbers or credit histories — including illegal immigrants....... Why not offer them a Credit card? Check this out..........."BofA's program issues small amounts of credit at relatively high interest rates to checking customers in good standing" This is just simple business and it shows how markets adjust to deal with reality, even when politicians and nativist TV commentators want to remain in denial. BofA recognizes that the 28 million Latinos in its market are here to stay, and it is targeting financial products to suit their needs and help them continue to boost local economies.
It's called CAPITALISM in a new era of NO CREDIT CARD BANKRUPTCY.
They're only recourse if they don't pay the bill is to leave the US or face the credit collector and courts.
I think it's yet another example of big businesses seeing an untapped market and ignoring the bad press they may get over tapping that market. Whether the bad press will be enough to offset the profit has yet to be determined.
My opinion is that they are catering to the illegal market and in the long run; will bite the American taxpayer in the bum one way or another. It is wrong and anyone who is with them should leave and let them cater to the 12 million and see how well they collect from them in investments and payments. Just a thought.
Anyway to increase EPS i'm fine with it. This country cares nothing about people and only about pleasing shareholders. GREED. Hopefully, everyone dies soon.

Bank of America just join the ACLU, La Raza and every American organization that are pro illegal alien and against American principals. If we have accounts with this bank we all should retrieved our money and go some where else that are more pro American and worry more about our security and our Nation.

This question has been asked a few times now. On one hand I think it is good that people who have been living here, working hard, and being decent neighbors have an opportunity to live a better life. On the other hand, I think it is irresponsible of lenders like BofA to extend credit to people who may be subject to deportation. They should make a risk assessment before extending credit. I have put my BofA card away and have advised them that I will not be using the card.
Bank of America also gives checking and savings accounts backed with Visa Debit Cards to Citizens of Mexico that do not have USA social security numbers. It's routine. However, their policy is not as open and flexible with our own home grown minorities (USA).
That's discrimination.

i hope loosing 50 million customers and big businesses was worth gaining 12 illegal customers that will probably default within the first year. I went to BOA yesterday with my friend and the line was outside the door with account holders waiting to close their accounts. There were even businesses closing their accounts and they all were infuriated. can u blame them? i would do the same. Its hypocrisy........

I think it's wrong. I don't know about other people but I'm fed-up of an entirely different set of rules for 1 group of people who aren't even citizens and another set for everybody else. I mean I viewed a video today in which the illegals are exempt from the 3 strike rule in California. Break the law, do a bit of time, get deported, come back and do it again and again and again and again. Get another fake ID and you could just go on forever! They have untrackable criminal records. Untrackable credit reports, Many are commiting welfare fraud, they're driving without licenses and the list goes on and on. I mean we are kept to a totally different set of rules and laws and standards and expectations and frankly I'm fed-up! We just had a murderer get a "deal" concerning his punishment or Mexico wouldn't extradite him here. This is just one more "perk" for the illegals that US citizens don't get.
Well honestly I have no credit cards... I have paid every last one of them off :))

They are an insult to all legal citizens and BofA account holders. All BofA account holders should close their accounts.
If I had an account there I would close it. I hope Washington Mutual doesn't do the same thing but with all the flack, I doubt it.
I hope everyone who has a Bank of America credit card, cancels the card. I think that it is a disgrace to give a credit card to anyone who is illegal. Do you know how hard it is to get a credit card in this country, (being American born) without having credit! It seems like Americans are losing their rights and bending over backwards to be politically correct. Is this country and the people in it going crazy or what!!!!!!
Anyway to make a buck and even if its off an illegal, plain greed,,,,,and of course when the illegals max out their credit cards and flee, the rates go up for all the honest customers,,,,

It is wrong. Those illegal aliens wont pay back their credit cards and it will be AMERICANS who are bailing BoA out of their mess that they created. How can I say this? Because the illegal aliens who hike across the border are mainly drug dealers, thieves and lowest of the low class in Mexico. How can I say this? Because the numbers speak for themselves! It is ridiculous for anyone to think that they BoA wont be burned by this...and bad.
