I came to Canada on June 25, 2006. When crossing the border I had to go through all this trouble with immigration officers and the finally ended up letting me go through to Canada, but they gave me a one month visitation slip. They told me I HAD to leave in 30 days and when I cross the border to give the slip to an immigration officer so they know that I did this. They said that if I did not follow orders that I would never be allowed back in Canada. Well I came here to be with my boyfriend. I haven't left yet and nothing has happened. I'm worried something is going to happen and they'll deport me and never let me back in. If my boyfriend and I get married they can't deport me right? Does anyone know the process of what I need to do to become legal? We've talked about sponsership but that's $1100 or more. How can I go about becoming legal WITHOUT leaving back to the US? Or is that all just wishful thinking? Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm sorry to have to tell you this but there is no way you can become legal without leaving Canada. You must return to the US first and try to working things out with immigration. It would have been easier had you not stayed longer than 30 days but that's in the past now good luck.

Lol, you're an illegal immigrant in Canada! Depending on Canadian Immigration laws you could try to go to an American Embassy and explain your marriage situation. But really, why would they have immigration enforcement in Canada?
