How long would it take??
my girlfriend and i are thinking of getting married, she doenst have papers for this country.
How long would it take for her to get her green card, if we got married next week?
any ideas??

I guess you need to file I-130 as soon as your guys are married. And also file AOS ( adjustment of Status)
Marriage to a US citizen is the only reason where overstaying a visa can be forgiven.
I am a legal immigrant and just went through the green card process.
The fees for these procedures are tripling July 30th, so you might want to file fast. Now it's going to be $425 for AOS, then it will be $1150, so BIG difference.

then she'll get work permit in about 3-4 months and a green card (if approved) in about a year
depends on what country she is from and her status in this country. If it is undocumented she can't legalize her status through marriage to you. Get an attorney. If you apply for her there is no option for her other than leaving to report to a US embassy abroad and that might leave her waiting for 10 years or more abroad. I have seen many people get tangled in this web so consult an attorney and make sure that they get her an exception for her status here before she leaves to the embassy.
It depends on where she is from (from what I've heard) but if it is from a country without much visa failure rate you will get it quicker. Where there is a lot of fraud it is slower. I've mostly heard under 6 months (3 months in some cases) where the person came legally. Which isn't to say it might not take longer if the background check glitches.
i would say two years and she will be given temporary greencard after the interview
