UK Certificate of Registration - Reporting Leave?
Hi!
I'm an international student in the UK.
My country is one of few countries where I was required to register with the police within one week of my first arrival to the UK to obtain a "Certificate of Registration".
On this Certificate, it's written that I MUST take this certicate and inform the police if I'm leaving my address for more than two months.
I went to the police, the policewoman at the desk didn't know what exactly to do (because as I said Not all countries are required to do so), and because it was outside office hours, she couldn't call the Home Office to inquire what she should do.
I couldn't go back the next day before the time of my flight.
I am now studying in another European country as an exchange student for six months (until end of June)
I am worried that when I'll come back to UK, the immigration officer might ask me why I didn't report that I'm leaving my address for more than 2 months.
Help is very appreciated.
Answer:
I wouldn't be unduly bothered. Even if asked, you will be able to explain the situation and on balance it is unlikely to affect your admissability. I work for the UK IS.
