What is the normal procedure for a foreigner to apply for work in America?

Do you apply for a visa first then find a job or the other way round?

Answer:
Find a job. You need a sponsor for a visa. Good options are multi-nationals because they have lots of experience and may know how to expedite the process.
We don't need anymore people coming here and taking our jobs.
Just enter the US on a tourist visa and get work illegally. Theres millions of people who do this. I know plenty of people who have did this. To get a permanent visa legally is near impossible. Personally I wouldn't live in America if I was paid because I can't stand Americans. Most Americans are arrogant, look down on foreigners and think the world ends at their country's border
You find a job first because the employer has to sponsor your visa.
