What is the penalty for hiring illegal immigrant workers?

Is the penalty severe enough? Shouldn't all companies or people who hire illegal immigrants be deported? - or shot? Wouldn't that stop hiring of illegals?

Answer:
The problem with this amnesty bill is that it is not protecting our country from invasion. If the laws are not being enforced now, why would they be enforced with 20+ million more illegals living on welfare, using benefits that they will be qualified for and didn't have to work for, etc.

There is no way that the US government any intentions of enforcing the law just like they are not enforcing the laws now, but they are trying to make it look good by showing the people that they can write down a big number for fines to try to impress people. Read it word for word: UP TO $ in fines. This means that they could charge them $50 per illegal for breaking the law and fulfill their new law since they would be under that cap of whatever the UP TO amount is.

The Senate Bill Provides Greater Incentives For Employers And Workers To Follow The Law By Implementing Much Tougher Worksite Enforcement Measures. EEVS will give employers the tools they need to verify the status of workers they hire. Employers who continue to hire illegal workers will face stiff new criminal and civil penalties – for example, the maximum criminal penalty for a pattern or practice of hiring illegal workers will increase 25-fold, from $3,000 per alien to $75,000 per alien.

Conspiracy to commit the crimes of sheltering, harboring, or employing illegal aliens is a separate federal offense punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 or five years imprisonment.

Washington DC - In one of the crucial tests of the Senate immigration bill, 51 senators voted to grant amnesty to illegal alien terrorists and criminals. By a 46-51 vote, the Senate rejected an amendment offered by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) that would have barred illegal aliens who have been determined to have committed terrorist acts, or who have been convicted of a variety of criminal offenses, including gang activity, from eligibility for the proposed Z visa amnesty that would allow them to remain in this country indefinitely.

Under the plan being debated in the Senate, S. 1348, illegal aliens would receive Z visas that would permit them to live and work in the U.S. and ultimately to citizenship. The Cornyn amendment sought to exclude individuals who have been convicted of offenses including failure to register as a sex offender, alien smuggling while using a firearm, or document and identity fraud. The amendment would also have prevented people who have committed terrorist acts from qualifying for the Z visas.

*Current bills vying to become Amnesty No. 8:

S. 1033 - would give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, increase legal immigration by almost half a million each year, and create a massive new worker-importation program. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is the bill's main sponsor.

H.R. 2330 - The Kolbe-Gutierrez bill is an amnesty/increased immigration/foreign worker importation bill. It would sell amnesty to every illegal alien who can was employed as of May 12, 2005, is still employed, and can pay the $2,000 fee. Spouses and children would get amnesty, too. Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-AZ) is the bill's main sponsor.
It is currently $250.00 per illegal worker (kind of a joke). The bill they want to pass is to increase the fine to $10,000.00.

That might make companies think twice.
it should be beheadment. These people are the reason they come here illegaly. Stop hiring them!
The penalty currently is minor, unless the employer is huge and investigated at federal level under RICO.
You cannot deport citizens who hire illegals.
They should face a $10,000 fine per each illegal hired daily.
They should face imprisonment if hiring of illegals is repeated.
Then it would stop.
The penalty should be 10K per illegal worker. What would make it even more lucrative would be to offer snitches 1K per head for whistle blowing. You'd even have illegals ringing the phones off the wall to out a relative and profit off of it. You'd never need to build a wall if the US enforced this.
smal fines. No, they aren't severe enough because these idiots hire the illegals. They RARELY even go after the employers. That's a huge part of the problem!

If the job market dried up the illegals would self-deport themselves.
A severe beating by a little person with a cane, alog with being forced to eat at Taco Bell for two weeks straight, and a $100 fine.
