Do i get my social security if im not a citizen?

i came here from phillipines ,married to a marine, we divorced ten years ago,i had a son here and ive always had a job...

Answer:
You don't have to be a citizen to get Social Security Benefits as long as you are working in the U.S. legally. Generally, you need 40 quarters (10 years) of work to qualify for benefits. If you were married for more than 10 years, you could also qualify for benefits based on your former husband's work record, even if you did not work for 10 years in the U.S.

If you don't qualify in one of the ways mentioned above, you still may qualify if your country has a Social Security totalization agreement with the U.S. - Such agreements provide prorated benefits for people who have worked in more than one country. The U.S. has totalization agreements with 21 countries.

The laws that limited non citizens ability to collect benefits related to SSI (welfare type benefits for the poor) - not regular paid for Social Security Benefits.
if you paid into the system, you deserve it
Sure,and a new car,house and job.
Get in touch with the Social Security office, if you have been paying into Social Security correctly, you should be able to collect.
You can check this website to see if you are eligible to collect social security.

There had been a law enacted in 1997 by the Republican led Congress that had changed the rules which had stated that even if you had paid into the system but were not a citizen you could not collect.
It seems that the law might have been repealed.
If you were legally working you likely do. If you were illegally working, no. Check with the Social Security office near you.
if your legal, then yes
Have you paid into it? from your checks.
You shouldn't!!!!! Not a citizen, get no benefits!!! Period!! end of story!!!!!
I think if you paid funds into it, but don't count on anything. I would contact the nearest Social Security Administration office and they should be able to tell you. I would make sure I find out when one should be able to strart collecting.
If you're not a citizen, you shouldn't get a dime.
You don't need to be a citizen to get ssn or ssbenefit.
If you have a greencard or temporary resident card, you shouldn't have any problem to get it. With greencard or other legal document in hand, the Social Security office won't think twice to give you one. The question is how can you work without a ssn?
Yes you do get it.

I cannot believe some of these ignorant fluses that think because you aren't a citizen you don't deserve it. You are "permanent resident" you paid in and you get.

Maby some of those folks need to learn the difference between a legal and an ILLEGAL alien.
