It really depends on where she comes from. If she needs a visa, sometimes the person can be invited into this Country. If you were to marry her abroad, you would have to get a visa from the British Embassy in that Country. If she is a member of the EEA, then she can come here of her own free will.
I would ring the citizens advice bureau and/or ask your MP for help.
get a leagal visa first. It is no fun to be hiding from the authorities, and people can a nd will be caught and deported eventually. It is no reason to jump into marriage, so get a visa sorted first.

Yes it seems unfair, but you should ask her if she really wants to live in this police state and all that goes with it. Don't forget that the scumbags that ARE being let in are destroying this country. Wouldn't you be better off moving to her country ? By the way ,my brother married a woman from overseas, and she lives over here. By here I mean Britain,so I can't see how going over the border from Mexico would help ! Those damn yankees.

I've been in a similar situation, all she wanted was to get in to the country. Eventually she found 'a husband', the marriage was arranged, she paid something like 10.000£ to get what she wanted most...
Live in Britain why?
There are rules for permanent residency in the UK and if your friend does not measure up she does not get a permit to live here its that simple. So marry her and start again.
