Why do Hispanic aliens refuse to assimilate into American society?

Some of them are dumb. I'm Hispanic, but hey, I like to be true. The only immigrant in my family is my dad and he doesn't try to act like he did in his country. I don't like it either when the term "alien" is used. Anyways, he was born in El Salvador, and it is a very poor country. When he came, he tried to live like the people of the U.S. He doesn't even like to see Mexicans coming over here and not try to learn English and still dress in ugly boots and a hat. He talks English all the time with everyone, except when Spanish is needed, or he is talking with family. Some Hispanic immigrants don't want to lose their heritage, but hey, they wanted to come, so they have to become one of us. Lol

I think you are wrong to paint all Hispanic aliens with the same broad brush.
As long as we ask them to build the wall to keep their friends out and refuse to speak spanish and contniue to pay them under the table they feel no pressure to do what my great grandmother did when she came to the US of A.
She had to adjust and be someones slave (irish slave BTW) learn enlgish (she spoke gaelic). Hispanics don't feel the need to because we don't froce it upon them like our ancestors (sp?).
They like their culture better. They'll probly do some things like americans but not everything.
They think they can do it better.
If we all have to adapt for them...ie. Spanish signs, English or Spanish options on an atm machine, teachers teaching in Spanish since they cannot speak English, etc... then why should they adapt? There is no reason for it.
So simply because you are living in a foreign country, you believe you should assimilate with the locals even though their language might not be your own, completely ignoring the fact that you have your own culture and customs that are very precious to you. Isn't the fact that Hispanics are here working, paying taxes and making a life for themselves enough. Maybe you want to make it mandatory for all Hispanics to attend line dancing classes
I think they do assimilate as well as honor their own cultural identities. They work in US businesses, shop in US stores, buy US vehicles, their children attend US schools, attend US churches...just like every other ethnicity that has come to the US. Ever been to China town or little Italy? Every ethnicity respects their roots and customs...why would hispanics be any different?
because we let them get away with it. human nature shows that we all push the limits as far as we can. do you think we would have this problem on such a massive level if we required every single person applying for citizenship to speak, read, write and understand english? if we actually deported and/or sent to jail any illegals? as long as there are people willing to break the law to "help" them, and there are politicians out there more concerned about voters, illegals can do whatever they want. and the people who are trying to get in the country legally, on a tourist visa will continue to be denied that right.
Assimilation is beign forced on them, and the differences stand out more today than they did years ago. Today, everybody wants everything right now...including the assimilation of immigrants into American society. Years ago...think Ellis Island...immigrants came to this country and settled together. Many of them did not learn English. It was their kids and grandkids that learned the language and assimilated. The Little Italy section of New York City is a perfect example. How many Itallian immigrants lived there without knowing much (if any English)? It was their kids and their kids' kids who "melted" into American Society.
Do you have any idea what America was like when the Irish descended into the country? There are a million things in our daily lives that we consider normal, that were quirks of particular ethnic groups.
With each wave of immigrants there have always been new cultures created, where whole communities are like worlds unto themselves. It takes time for them to integrate in well.

Let's see. My forebears are Irish (but I don't know any Gaelic), French (but I had to learn French in school), Dutch (but I had to teach myself to read it so that I could understand the information I received from the Rotterdam Philharmonic), and Italian (but the only Italian I know is from music and various Italian menus). My forebears didn't maintain their culture - and see what it has cost me? Why, oh WHY, would you want people to give up who and what they are?? To make YOU comfortable?? No way - I say good for them, and may they continue to teach their children to be proud of who they are!
Because they don't want to give up Mexico...the illegal aliens coming here don't want to be here in the first place.
The melting pot IS here...but can't withstand the arrogance of illegal aliens refusing to do so.
It's okay to bring some elements of your home culture with you, but you should leave the elements which conflict with the new culture at home (i.e. Thais eating dogs - don't bring that into America, dimwit). And, unless you're at some kind of cultural convention or talking with a relative when no one else's around - LEAVE YOUR DAMN LANGUAGE AT HOME!! Many immigrants fail to realize that their foreign language makes many people around them uncomfortable, like they're being talked about behind their backs.

Clinton failed to design any safe guards for allowing a huge Hispanic population into our country.
Then, no one came in after him and fixed it. By requiring any immigrant to learn and speak English in the work place or on the job. And because businesses don't give a sh--it, and no one's making them comply with lots of employee issues, more and more legal and illegal Hispanics -who cannot speak English--are allowed into the American society and its social systems.
If we toughen up who gets a green card and eliminate those who do not comply, then we can turn away anyone we want.
The Office of Immigration is the responsible governing party. Why they don't do anything or the Administration or the State Legislatures or the Governors or the Mayors of cities don't do ANYTHING is mind boggling! don't you think?
Hey Missy, I am a Hispanic and I have assimilated perfectly.But I also embrace and celebrate my Hispanic heritage.I am not going pander to those xenophobic who demand every one embrace your European ideals, America doesn't belong JUST to you people..Grow up and learn to live with people who are different than you.

well i dont think they refuse a lot of them, most, speak english and adapt and everything but what pisses me off is that i see mexican people like me that i hear them speaking "spanglish" i mean it's ok that they learn english and speak it and prctice it but the fact that they fuse it or combine it with spanish that just pisses me off i mean they do something like this:parkeate aqui or mopear or something like that im just saying that if they want to speak english ok do it and if they want to speak spanish ok do it but dont mix it!
