No tingles, no dance. Frankly, I never felt a whole lot of pride in USA as unfortunately I was too busy watching the loonesy that seems to prevail much of the time.
However in fairness, the USA has been great in the past. No question. Kinda feels like that day has come and gone though at the moment. Corruption, chaos, criminality selfish pathos and worse are around every turn. It has in fact become what the USA has become. IT is sad.
While I endorse immigration I do believe we need to return to the days when roughly a half a million folks a year would be legally inducted. Now it's well beyond a million. Our population doubles every decade this way. In twenty years, it will be quadrupled.
Too many people, too quick is not a good thing. Then add the illegals. Deff. not a good thing.
i like the song, and i have a lot of pride in my country....but this image of immigration through Ellis Island as being "legal" immigration is not totally the case. at that time, many immigratns would bribe officials, switch clothing to cover the deportation numbers on the backs of their jackets, etc... we like to think of that time so fondly...well sorry, but the same stuff going on today was going on back then as well.
