Obviously your question is a cunningly disguised "rant" at the system for allowing it to be so easily abused by the "illegal immigrants" that seem to be taking all of our resources away.
The thing is, the rights of the people (which I enjoy as a legal immigrant from the UK) in the United States are somewhat of a "double-edged sword" in that, to be able to effectively stop the flow of illegals into the country then the government would have to implement systems that could be conceived as "unconstitutional" in order to meet the challenge.
For example, I have traveled many times between Canada and the US and have on numerous occasions heard other US citizens complaining about the Border Patrol agents asking for a US Passport before they will allow the traveler to re-enter their own country.
So, what obviously needs to happen is that the American people need to ask themselves what is more important - allowing the government to do their jobs in a more efficient manner thus reducing the flow of illegals into our country where they erode society and the available resources that so many depend on or, keep whining about every inconvenience that is bestowed upon them by having to obtain and carry a secure document that clearly identifies them as a citizen who rightfully deserves the privileges and rights bestowed upon them by their forefathers.
Just for the record, I agree with some of the answers here that state that not all illegal immigrants get all of the benefits however, they do get some of them. As a legal permanent resident (not yet a citizen but working on it) I receive absolutely no benefits whatsoever. My wife sponsored me into the US and was forced (I could not stay if she did not sign) to sign an "Affidavit of Support" which specifically states that I cannot, at any time, receive any government assistance on anything - no unemployment, section 8 housing, social security benefit, nothing. Additionally, the first year I moved here I was only here for about 3 months of that tax year, yet because I had earned income in the UK that year and had not lived outside of the US for more than 300 days of that year I also had to pay taxes on my UK income which, I'd already paid taxes on in the UK so double taxation was the order of the day.
Here's another one for you - I served in the military for 13 years as a soldier in the UK Armed Forces (the United States biggest ally) yet I cannot even be recognized as a military veteran - I wasn't even allowed to join the Michigan Air National Guard because I have served with the military of a foreign government.
