Is it racism? And what will be the results?
Answer:
Just a reminder that the Mexican immigration debate is an attempt by the Bush Administration to make look like they are doing something.
Since Bush's main agenda is Christian-based politics and maintaining America's corporate status quo, directing us to "problems" like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Mexico is a cover up for the many failings of Bush.
Mexicans, or for that matter, any and all immigrants from South and Central America and the Caribbean are not a problem.
They are blamed for taking jobs away from Americans. I have yet to hear of an American citizen losing out on a job as CEO of a company to an illegal Mexican immigrant. As the employers will tell you, the majority of Americans do not want the types of jobs that Mexicans do in America.
Next, while immigration should be tightly regulated, actions like building a fence spanning the entire Mexico-America border is an act of blatant idiocy. I don't want to pay for the construction, nor the maintainance, nor the personnel (this cost is in the billions of dollars) to run the wall.
Furthermore, tens of thousands of illegal immigrants are already caught and returned to their home countries.
The Bush Administration, the so-called American patriot organizations like The Minute Men hardly represent the majority of America: they are just very loud people and it is easy to think they have millions of followers. And people who are angry at their own lot in life find comfort in being able to blame others for their troubles. Turning Mexico into a pariah is a bad way to go.
A beautiful country with a kind and genteel spirit to the people, Mexico generates somewhere around $3 billion a year for the United States economy. The biggest surprise to people is that illegal immigrants also pay taxes out of their pay. Yes, they are on payrolls and paying taxes. In addition, US businesses are created to serve the needs of Mexicans, whether it be food service, education, medical care.
Mexico is an exciting land of diverse people, pre-hispanic cultures, centuries old (and perhaps millenia-old) pyramids and other old world grand structures, and a wonderful culture of hospitality towards strangers, food, dance, and music.
The current state of many people's attitudes smack of racism (I'm not going to repeat some of the things I have heard and read). Why only single out Mexicans? There are huge numbers or illegal Russians and Chinese in the U.S. How come there is no muss or fuss about them? Yes, there is a lot of racism to consider here.
undoudtably it is racism .
they re breaking our laws by sneaking over the border. if america was a grocery store, what they would be doing is breaking and entering. let them go through the proper channels like our ancestors did
Only illegal immigrants are being deported. It doesn't matter why you're here, there's a process that people have to go through. My ancestors all came to the United States legally, and many Mexicans come here legally nowadays. It's unfair to jump the cue.
actualy you have to read the policy if it will be or not but i think it might or it might not you can chat with me on these mail
I beleive it is.Why were we aloud to come here, but not todays illegal immigrants?
First, they are not Mexican immigrants, they are in fact illegal aliens, they are here openly breaking our immigration laws. The reasons for coming here might be the same, but more and more each year are coming here illegally rather than legally. Also gone are the days of respect, respect for our country and its laws. In years gone bye, immigrants came, got papers so they could be here legally, payed what fees they had to pay, learned english, and and waited, sometimes for years to become Americans. They did not, wave the flag of the country they came from, march in our streets, nor demand rights. And most likely never said, we are here, we are staying here, and you can not stop us. What will never heal, is if we ever reward them with amnesty.
If they come legally there is not a problem with Mexicans or any other immigrant. It is the illegals that are the problem. The reason they come is not revelant. I cant rob a bank because I want to have a better life.
I think to many people are pimping out the word racism every time something doesn't work out to how people envisioned it would- the word racism is screamed. Not all these illegals are here under the best intentions. As a matter of national security every illegal here should undergo a background check. Spanish historian Julián Casanova didn't envision the 9-11 attacks which is why we want everyone here illegally to be checked out.
Consider that many coutries have immigration laws there too. You break them, you pay consequences. Illegals from the US / Mexico border (not all are Mexicans I know) are breaking the law. Until that law is changed, they are considered as criminals. Just as small as shoplifting or as large as murder, you are breaking the law.
People who come here legally and jumped all the hoops are welcome here. These are people who were patient enough to let the system work for them. These are people with Hispanic, African, Asian, Middle Eastern and Caucasian decent. Why is it so hard to just let the system work for those in Mexico just as it worked for anybody else. We would deport everyone else if they did something wrong.
Also consider if we disrespected others like this in other countries I'll be damned if they don't kick my butt out of thier country as well.
So, no, its not a racism thing.
Some might say the Mexican government is racist by not allowing their neighbors yo enter Mexico for a better life. The Mexican government rounds up illegals and quickly deports them.
I don't think it is racism. I think the Mexican government has a right to protect their borders and their country. Even if their neighbors are seeking a better life.
Nope. It's the law. They don't belong here, so they must leave. That simple. Our families came here legally. God willing it'll end pretty quickly... after a few months of tracking em down and sending em away...
That's moronic. Of course its not racism.
Never did get along with neighbors who threatened to take my home and burn my flag.Nor ones who wanted a free ride after I worked hard to servive, lost family to war for freedom and still dont have medical, but illegals break the law to be here and get all medical paid, yea, its hard to be neighborly. What does race have to do with it?Im guessing if things dont change America will be a 3rd world country also.America connot possible take on all the worlds poor when they dont even help themselves.
racism? by your implication, if millions of canadians were sneaking past our border we would have no problem. no, it is not racism. our families came to the u.s. legally, there's a difference. hispanics counter our actions with labels of racism, but we are not degrading anyone's race. americans don't have a right to just go and stay anywhere they please, the illegals should wait in line like everybody else.
just look at the boxer rebellion, if the opposite was happening right now, and millions of americans were sneaking into mexico, the american populous would dilute the mexican culture and mexicans would be pissed, THAT'S racism. we don't send mexicans back because of their culture or anything, we send them back because they shouldn't be here.
The best example I can give you is to tell you that if you believe in God, the first rule of Heaven is order. That means law. God is not a racist, but the alternative is anarchy, or the absence of law, and if he ain't going for it, we Americans will not either. Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian principals and values, as such we Americans believe in following the law and we lock up those who repeatedly show their disdain and disrespect for our laws.
I hope the criminals who are bringing in drugs, terrorist, guns, smuggling narco-dollars, and/or untaxed US currency, and other contraband are reading this too. Wanting secure borders and immigrants who observe and respect our laws does not make Americans of any ethnicity racist. It is the law. Wanting a better life (immediately and/or instantly) is not reason enough to break our laws. It is true that many of the wounds will take time to heal. Early American (European, Asian, and African) settlers came to this country without restrictions and without regard to the Native Americans. There were over 500 Native American tribes and no immigration laws. Needless to say, both the American (European, Asian, and African) settlers and Native Americans paid for these struggles in blood. Many of the so-called Mexican Immigrants are not immigrants at all and have no intention of becoming US citizens, but rather are here for employement oppoertunities and sending un-taxed US currency back across to Mexico where the mark up is so high on the exchange rate, they can live like kings in old Mexico for the rest of their days. We call it the "Fleecing of America." That's what has many Americans mad as you know what.
