Why are some people so idiotic about the Pizza/Peso issue?
If you go father South you will notice that in EVERY border between countries they accept currency from both nations. Stop being so ultraconservative.
Answer:
How is it conservative to interfere with a business advertising a perfectly legal strategy to increase its business? Let's see Pizza Patron decides in a free marketplace to provide a service to customers (exchanging pesos), saving customers a hassle and expense, and selling more pizza. Customers get a good service at a reasonable price. Sounds like a win-win. Critics have no problem with NY businesses accepting Canadian dollars...hmmm... I think the problem the critics have has nothing to do with being conservative. Nor is it the oft-cited legal/illegal distinction made about immigrants. Unfortunately the critics understand intuitively that doing business together leads to cultural tolerance. If we can trust each other in a thousand (or better yet millions) of small transactions then the culture is judging people on their character and their reliability in performing a service instead of their skin color, language or another irrelevant characteristic. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries this is what made Amsterdam and London the most tolerant and wealthy cities in Europe. They focused on profit and trade rather than religion or ideology when becoming rich and cosmopolitan. God help us should any Americans in 2006 aspire to be prosperous or tolerant. Better run and get the "conservative" government to intervene.
I KNOW! whats up with that?! Great question!
All along the northern border they accept US and Canadian money. And on the mexican side of the border many places accept dollars. Why is this an issue?
THANK YOU!!! She told me in my last post that it is basically not fair to accept money from Mexico, cause we don't accept money from other countries. She doesn't make since at all. Her profile says it all.
I would rather they whine about pesos, than about how illegals are breaking into their pedophile market.
I'm ok with it but more on the individual rights of the business to accept other funds if they want to. I'm not really into 'globalism' as a so-called virtue. I do see that catering to one's clientelle is good business, though.
Because it's another thing for them to complain about even if it doesn't effect them personally.
For me to consider your question valid, you probably should have left out 'idiotic' in the title. Not mentioning people by name helps too.
To actually answer it, it's because they see an influx of people who are strange, speak a different language, have different customs, and more often than not come here through illegal means (Find the graphs in my source). They see every concession to Mexicans as a concession to illegal immigration; it's someone helping an invasion to them. You will always see a knee-jerk response from these people, unless you can manage to convince them they are wrong (hint: calling them idiots doesn't help.)
Dismissing them outright, while much easier, doesn't do near as much good as trying to understand how they think and breaking that down from the roots. Don't act like you care about social issues if you just like saying how stupid others are and how great you are, actually invest in your outlook on life, and in other people.
