When we have a economic downturn all hell will break loose
When the economy is growing there is a constant and increasing demand for labour. If the local market cannot provide sufficient labour the fill the positions then the economy declines. That is why labour from other countries is critical to our ongoing prosperity.
When the economy slows and the jobs dry up, the majority of foreign workers move on in search of another job. Some stay and settle in the host country. They have contributed economically to the success of the country and they contribute socially as well.

That's already true for the poor and women in parts of California and I would imagine the southwest. Look at their lives and what they are saying. Things get restructured but not before alot of people are hurt and displaced, which also affects entire families. 10 people shouldn't have to live on one or two incomes.
Maybe all the pro-illegal activists & politicians should be made to give up their homes & bank accounts to them.

Its impossible for all the jobs to run out, but if we were low on jobs then the ones that are still looking for jobs will move on to somewhere else.

My family were once immigrants to Britain and have worked hard, paid tax and been grateful for opportunities given to us
i am sure many other families will do the same
Hopefully this will not happen, although the United States was founded by immigrants. With that said, I work for a construction company on a military installation, we are very stringent on our hiring procedures. There will be no illegal alien working for our company. As long as others follow suit, we will hold tight to our jobs.
By the way, we as Americans need to learn a better work ethic so that our individual jobs are not threatened.

THere is a gang problem in LA thats spreading around the world. According to the LA times ms13 is made up of EL salvadorean illegal immigrants. When they come here and can't get jobs, they end up joining gangs to support themselves. In France, the muslim immigrant population and their children has overwhelm the French economy. Many of them are unemployed. Last Year they rioted and the riot spread through Europe. People don't seem to understand that people continue to move into an area looking for a job even if their is no jobs to be found. A rumour of a few jobs brings hundreds of people into that area in the hopes that they may land it. Thats how Mexico city got so overcrowded.
Edit. Obvious curious J and some of the other here have never study shanty towns. When they immigrate into the city, too many stay in hope that more jobs will be available later.
Mexico city is not the only example of how people migrate and stay driving unemployement. Indian mega cities are an example of this as well. They come from the countryside, to move in big cities even if they don't have jobs. Illegal immigrants are worse, because it cost a lot of money to get here and they can't afford to move to other countries.
We will become a lawless society where the weak will be preyed upon.

The same thing happened in America. For the Common Good (that means immigrants) all you Racists (that means white folk) will be obliged to Make Sacrifices (that means surrender you jobs) to the Underprivileged (which again means immigrants). This process of demoralizing and marginalizing the majority goes by the euphemism of "Affirmative Action." If such a system isn't in place yet in Britain, it will be there soon.
Well I am going to split your question.
You start by assuming that there will be no jobs left. The evidence is strongly against this (in the U.K.) as there are currently more vacancies than applicants for jobs and the economy is strong.
If the immigrants keep coming, I for one will be very pleased as every culture has something of value to add to ours. There is real strength in diversity.
My suggestion is that you stop regarding people coming into the country as a group i.e. "immigrants" and start to see that each person arriving is a precious human being with all the fine human qualities that you yourself possess.
The Romans started mass immigration and gladly immigration has been a part of heritage ever since.
People coming into the country is not a problem..perhaps you might like to examine your attitude towards them which may be the real problem.
Don't worry! It will all be fine, there will be so many people we will create more jobs to supply food to feed them and clothes to cloth them and the U.K will be so over crowded we will all have to live in blocks of flats miles high, which will mean employment for thousands of builders and they will all have children, who will have to go to school so we will need more teachers. The children will need toys, mobiles, i pods, tv, computers, the latest designer clothes and trainers.
So you stop worrying, we'll all be fine!
They will just turn to crime I would guess,they've already shown a propensity for illegal activity if they're not here legally. So what's a few more laws bent or broken?

not sure about you but ,,there is no way im working for minimum wage... in mcdonalds ... hotels, restuarants etc...
we were'nt doing those jobs anyway . its a bit more complicated than that

doubt that the city is fullk of immigrants ... the estate agents aren't either ... but hospitals for instance probably pay badly... and don't attract enough nurses
