How much is it for a consult with an Immigration lawyer in Canada and is it worth it?
Answer:
I am a lawyer. So, my advise is (perhaps) biased.
You should consult a lawyer if you do not like to do the research and also if you want to be absolutely sure.
If you are a researcher type, pretty educated and smart, and if you have a simple issue and do not mind paying for your own mistakes, you can try to read up yourself and handle your matter yourself.
If you had a heart problem or medical problem, would you want to handle yourself? I don't think so.
In immigration law, you don't get a second chance. So, do it right the first time.
Just make sure to find the lawyer from trustworthy source.
I don't know how much for consultation fees for lawyers in Canada. I am not in Canada.
most immigration issues can be figured out on your own. i initially used a lawyer and it cost a fortune. just call the appropriate office or go to the web site for the appropriate forms.it costs to file but a lawyer will charge you hundreds to fill them out.
Just go to the official Canadian Goverment site. Be warned, you must have 250,000 dollars, a skill the goverment deems needed, be in good health and have a job to emigrate legally.
They enforce their immigration laws, not like the US.
I have been told that immigration lawyers are a waste of money...that was from an immigration officer at a border. Look at the paperwork carefully, use the check list for all the documents needed and do it yourself.
and no you don't need $250,000 dollars...that is a load of crap. You need money to support yourself and family while you are here.
