I am a sprinter who is moving to Japan to work for the experience but was wondering that if I decide to live there permanently can I run for Japan in the Olympics? I heard the country is racist to some extent and may not allow this as I am black... any thoughts? BTW i love Japan!
Answer:
If you became a Japanese citizen you would leaglly be able to represent Japan in the Olympics. However, whether the Japanese Olympic Committee would allow you to is another matter. As you said, they are a fairly racist country and I doubt they could "save face" by having a black man on the Olympic squad.
I don't know. I know that a naturalized Japanese (born Brazilian) represented Japan at the World Cup. But...the nationality rules in soccer are extremely lax.
