Expiring resident and a misdemeanor?

My resident card is going to expire this September of 2007.
I have a misdemeanor and I want to know what do I need to do
to exted my residency?, so that I can fix this problem before I apply
for my citizenship. Is it possible?
Help! I really don't want to get deported. I love my birth country but, I wouldn't know how to survive there.. This is my home.

Answer:
It depends. How did you get the misdemeanor?
Well you're a criminal so you have the means to support yourself while you figure out how to survive in your homeland. We already have enough law breakers here.
Marry a U.S. citizen like me and they will sponser you on a fiance visa!!
Why are you asking about something so important here? Call Immigration and ask them and get the info you need from a reliable source. Then, go from there. If Immigration tells you that the misdemeanor is going to cause you a problem on extending your residency card, then you should contact an Immigration lawyer. Whatever you do, do NOT wait until your residency has expired before trying to find out about this.
A misdemeanor is not a serious crime & the INS will overlook it, if it was a minor thing, but it will hurt you a little cuz it will establish a bad behaviour on ur part & u must walk in with clean hands.
Best is to get a Lawyer.
