yes, they are what you say they are.there is no centrist position, unless it is the position of total amnesty no matter what. It is still an extreme that will make matters worse.

So let me get this straight: The only intelligent answer comes from someone in the middle. The person who does not feel passionately for either side. Essentially the peron who sits on the fence and doesn't have the courage or strength of mind to take a stand. Interesting.
Illegal immigration is a tough issue so you are going to see people who choose one side.
Not all anti-illegal's are xenophobic. Maybe they are sick of hearing the government treat them as though they are too lazy to do jobs they have been doing to cover up for corruption?
Sure you have people that are xenophobic and don't want cultural values to change but not all.
Not all pro-illegals are whack jobs. Some pro-illegals are pro-illegal because they remember what life was like in Mexico and maybe their families have been working here for 30+ years and are just tired of feeling like they have to watch their backs and not knowing if someone is going to up and deport them. They aren't disrespecting citizens and just doing their thing. They are also not being rude and taking swipes at citizens claiming they are doing jobs americans don't want to do and insulting americans that aren't rich.
Just because most people right of the center hate it and most people left of the center hate it doesn't mean it is a centrist position.
Sometimes it is simply a bad idea altogether.
