To those above that claim that there is no damage and that they help, sorry but you are delusional and totally wrong! There is absolutely nothing positive about the illegal alien criminals that are breaking our laws and have invaded our country!
-- Financial - $9 BILLION each year (last year's figures)
-- Education - teachers spend more time with non-English speakers and that hurt all kids
-- Health care - lots of ERs are closing because they can't afford to stay open and people have to wait hours because the illegal use the ERs for a cold
-- Prisons - filed with Mexican gang members
-- Crime - way up
-- Traffic - way up (already a major problem)
-- Drunk drivers - way up
-- ID theft - WAY WAY UP!

I live in Texas, I couldn't even begin to tell you how bad the problem is here.
More importantly than the tax $$ spent on them are the rapes and murders they commit and THEN we get to house and feed them and give them medical...it's more profitable to be illegal than legal it seems.
drunk driving arrests and accidents are throught the roof. as well as other crimes.
In my humble opinion, it's not, so much, the illegal ones that have damaged California.
It's the legal ones, like Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has brought some real greedy, corrupt, corporations to our state, so they can have a shot at our tax dollars, while they pay nothing.

A lot. I live in Jersey, in my area there isn't much "damage" but throughout the state... it's pretty nasty. They've taken the jobs and ugh it's just so... terrible. I know they're people, but if you want to be here so bad, do it llegally. Part of the problem is the way the country is handling everything... they arent doing anything!

The city I live in has the worst crime rate in the state, most of them are illegals -- they do drive by shootings, stab others, one hacked his wifes head off and took it for a drive then ran into a young woman and her daughter and killed them--quite a quandry to figure out where the spare head came from---another gay one hacked his two pals to death with an ax then escaped stark naked--another killed two room mates and buried them under his house. Drugs are rampant and the deaths over them---it goes on and on. I don't go out after dark and live in a place where it takes a key or a code to enter. Oh, they are horrid drivers and many plates here are from Texas!! I am way north of Texas. Our free clinic is almost on the brink of closing--our hospital emerg. rooms take 5 hours to get into and I have seen the men live in one apt. and wives in another with kids to get all welfare available.
Just glad to be an old American, even if I am rapidly becoming a minority.
Well - I'm in CA - and a lot of people here will b*tch and b*tch about it - and yet they don't complain when it benefits them.
My experience has shown me that the folks living here - who are not citizens of the U.S. - but needed to feed their families - take all the jobs that it's highly unlikely anybody else wants. They make up the majority of our lower end service industry workers. AND - more than half the people who ***** about them being here - utilize their services. They are bus boys and cooks and bathroom cleaners and maids and gardners and janitors - and the list goes on. Many of the businesses that I patronize use illegal aliens to do work for them. And I'm sure you patronize such places too.
Have they caused "damage" to my home state? Well - there are costs to educate their children - and deal with the language barrier. But I don't consider that damage. We are all ONE. I don't think God wants walls put up between countries. Unity is a virtue. I try to practice it when I can.

Besides selling drugs, murdering sheriff deputies, clogging emergency rooms, polluting the air with unregistered junkers, overcrowding schools and overworking teachers with swarms of non-English speaking spawn, etc, etc, not much damage.
Crime, diseases like TB, increased welfare cost, ect. If a illegal comes here, works cheap and then goes on social programs and sucks up tax money, is it really cheap labor?

The damage has been quite significant here in Texas. The job market has suffered quite a bit due to the influence of more and more workers. This brings down the wages of already low wage jobs. And since the illegal immigrants are willing to work for unfairly low wages, it pretty much pushes the majority of the legal citizens out of certain job markets. But they cannot sit around with no jobs. They simply find work elsewhere and then create problems in those job markets. Oddly enough it trickles up higher and higher.
The worst part is that we are not only dealing with more and more criminal immigrants each day, but we are also trying to maintain cities with drastically increased populations of low income families... the Katrina victims. So that pushes are economy even harder.
Honestly I cannot say that either group is better or worse than the other. I do not blame them for the problem. However, I often feel like they blame us for not providing what they consider appropriate accommodations.
And why would the government do anything to assist us in this time of need? They will not show a serious effort, and here is one of the reasons. When the job market becomes the way it is, people realize they need to get better education (college degrees) in order to find the jobs they need to make ends meet. The middle class citizens take out federal loans in order to go to school This of course generates debt to the federal government... a guaranteed source of income for them for tomorrow.
I wouldn't say that education is a bad thing. In fact, it is a wonderful thing. However, with unqualified students filling up the classrooms, schools must either dumb down their standards or face a less favorable pass/fail ratio. And when I say unqualified, I am talking about people who lucked their way into getting a GED and still cannot tell the difference between a noun and a verb.
Higher education and the job market are just two of the many areas that have been severely hit by illegal immigration. This is too broad of a topic to properly discuss in just a few sentences.
They have caused so much it is hard to estimate in Tennessee, I have traveled the U.S. and can tell you that if they are not deported soon, we will live in a third world country. I am glad to see that some of the people that have answered are proud to be mexican, If they are that proud then why did they leave the nice country that they are from?
They dont know any better I guess they think they are something special. Ashame that they have let them invade our country.

Well, one of our fine police officers here was recently killed by an illegal for absolutely no reason. Just a routine traffic stop and he got shot by the illegal trash. Which just proves my point... If they're willing to break one law (coming here illegally) then they're probably willing to break others while they're here.
