How long Canadian Immigration keeps record?

I've a friend applied for Canadian student visa in India. Visa officer rejected him and did not give him visa. He wants to know how long his records will be kept in Canadian Visa denial database? He wants to re-apply as soon as the record gets deleted. Is there such time table for visa applicant? For instance in USA, if you screw up with Credit card company by declaring bankruptcy, record only kept upto 7 years. After that no one knows what happened before. Is there similar thing in canadian Immigration?

Answer:
Sid B is right. This record will be there for the rest of your friend's life. Do you know the reason he was rejected? Just because he was denied once, does not mean he could apply again later and be accepted. It all depends on the reason for the rejection. Advise your friend to try and fix whatever the problem was (as stated by the visa officer) and apply again.
Yes the record is kept for 115 years
