For Amnesty???
Then build a fence or whatever.
Mexicans work hard & contribute to this country whether you like it or not. Who agrees???
Answer:
i agree, i'm brazilian on same situation. we are hard working people just striving for a better future. i've been here for 10 years, i pay my taxes, insurance and all the same crap americans do. even though we may not deserve everything americans do, it doesn't mean we have to be treated like aninals. we are not trying to make this country worse, we actually help this country alot. we do the kinda of work americans don't want to be doing. this country is made with immigrants. ins't this why this is called the land of hope?
Giving amnesty sends the message that we will not enforce laws and will open up a new can of worms.
I don't think there should be a fence. There are several species that would go extinct because a fence would interfere with their migration patterns. My American ego doesn't outweigh my desire to prevent the extinction of several species.
EDIT: I didn't say if I was for or against amnesty. Just that I'm against a fence because I support the lives of entire species on this planet. I'm not sure why people gave me thumbs downs for supporting the earth and environment.
I do not care what race anyone is, but obey our laws. If they are here illegally, and here for 20 years, they must be sent back. I believe you will find most people in most countries would say the same
I truly understand but if you move to California you'll see the real crisis and it has to be stop now.
No fence, and amnesty for all. Case closed.
yep the Mexican's also get on free Medicade, and obviously think that they don't have to pay bills like all the other people because...THEY SEEM NOT TO EXIST IN THE US!!!! go get a job like everyone else, earn some money, and go in through the US LEGALLY! oh and about the part where u said if they didn't have a criminal record, well illegals DO because they went into the US illegally! CRIMINAL RECORD!!!duh.
I disagree, and I thank you for the soapbox speech and the blind accusation of bigotry.
I'm not a racist, and my opinions have nothing to do with anyone's ethnicity, race, or anything like that. It has to do with the law.
I don't feel that illegal immigrants should be offered any form of amnesty, because it only serves to condone illegal behavior and punish those that have done things legally from the beginning. The law is the law, and it should not be changed just to satisfy the absurd belief that it's a "race issue".
If I worked illegally for two years and was suddenly caught by the IRS, they wouldn't be offering ME amnesty, and I was born in the country.
The issue is not if they work hard or can speak english, they broke the law by coming into this country without going through the proper channels.
Here is Mexico's law and how they deal with illegals. Why can't we just follow their example?
Mexico welcomes only foreigners who will be useful to Mexican society:
Foreigners are admitted into Mexico "according to their possibilities of contributing to national progress." (Article 32)
Immigration officials must "ensure" that "immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance" and for their dependents. (Article 34)
Foreigners may be barred from the country if their presence upsets "the equilibrium of the national demographics," when foreigners are deemed detrimental to "economic or national interests," when they do not behave like good citizens in their own country, when they have broken Mexican laws, and when "they are not found to be physically or mentally healthy." (Article 37)
The Secretary of Governance may "suspend or prohibit the admission of foreigners when he determines it to be in the national interest." (Article 38)
Mexican authorities must keep track of every single person in the country:
Federal, local and municipal police must cooperate with federal immigration authorities upon request, i.e., to assist in the arrests of illegal immigrants. (Article 73)
A National Population Registry keeps track of "every single individual who comprises the population of the country," and verifies each individual's identity. (Articles 85 and 86)
A national Catalog of Foreigners tracks foreign tourists and immigrants (Article 87), and assigns each individual with a unique tracking number (Article 91).
Foreigners with fake papers, or who enter the country under false pretenses, may be imprisoned:
Foreigners with fake immigration papers may be fined or imprisoned. (Article 116)
Foreigners who sign government documents "with a signature that is false or different from that which he normally uses" are subject to fine and imprisonment. (Article 116)
Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported, and/or imprisoned as felons:
Foreigners who fail to obey a deportation order are to be punished. (Article 117)
Foreigners who are deported from Mexico and attempt to re-enter the country without authorization can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. (Article 118)
Foreigners who violate the terms of their visa may be sentenced to up to six years in prison (Articles 119, 120 and 121). Foreigners who misrepresent the terms of their visa while in Mexico -- such as working with out a permit -- can also be imprisoned.
Under Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony. The General Law on Population says,
"A penalty of up to two years in prison and a fine of three hundred to five thousand pesos will be imposed on the foreigner who enters the country illegally." (Article 123)
Foreigners with legal immigration problems may be deported from Mexico instead of being imprisoned. (Article 125)
Foreigners who "attempt against national sovereignty or security" will be deported. (Article 126)
Mexicans who help illegal aliens enter the country are themselves considered criminals under the law:
A Mexican who marries a foreigner with the sole objective of helping the foreigner live in the country is subject to up to five years in prison. (Article 127)
Shipping and airline companies that bring undocumented foreigners into Mexico will be fined. (Article 132)
All of the above runs contrary to what Mexican leaders are demanding of the United States. The stark contrast between Mexico's immigration practices versus its American
immigration preachings is telling. It gives a clear picture of the Mexican government's agenda: to have a one-way immigration relationship with the United States.
Let's call Mexico's bluff on its unwarranted interference in U.S. immigration policy. Let's propose, just to make a point, that the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) member nations standardize their immigration laws by using Mexico's own law as a model.

Opposing illegal immigration is NOT racist. These people entered the country ILLEGALLY for their own advantage, cheated taxpayers out of tax dollars, and have no interest in becoming citizens. If they DO want to become citizens, then they should be subject to all fines and penalites for breaking our immigration laws and some accounting for all the back taxes they DID NOT pay.
There should NEVER even be any discussion of any sort of amnesty; it only encourages MORE illegal immigration.
I think Amnesty for those (mexicans and other illegals) that have been here for over 10 yrs, have proven to have been working the whole time, no criminal record, and never having been on government aid should qualify for sure. Those illegals in our jails however, have to go.
no amnesty,no way. They should "work hard" and fix their own country.
ILLEGALS,GET OUT.
I've worked with Mexicans that have been here for 10 years+ and they still can't speak English. It is not racist to expect someone coming to live in this country to adapt and assimilate to our way of life. That would mean being able to communicate in English, not live in a camp, and pay taxes. Giving amnesty would be a joke, they are undocumented, how can they really prove they have been here more than 2 years? All you would have is more Mexicans jumping the border and saying they have been here 2 years or more.Good plan.
There ARE NO Mexicans that have been here for 2 years or better that can speak, read, and write English, have no criminal record (here or there) and have steady employment. Sorry, but those people don't exist. There is no such thing. Where exactly do you live anyways? And....we will stop being racist when THEY stop being racist. If they hate Americans so much, they have no business being here.
Not too long ago, the Prime Minister of Ireland met with Bush and asked him to help the large number of Irish illegals in th US.
How come nobody complains about the Irish.
Somebody will say it's because there aren't as many. But aren't these the same people that attack Hispanic illegals for not obeying the law they so religously protect?
Agree in full.
FORGET IT!!!!!!!!!
They have committed a CRIME!!!!! I don't care HOW LONG they've been in this country ILLEGALLY!!!!!! DEPORT THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
you need to outlint this criteria in great detail, considering all things,,,then send it to your senator ,,,,, to give amnesty to most seems to complicated to accomplish
Are you nuts? People have to wait YEARS after they have been here LEGALLY before they can become citizens. You want to move these illegal alien criminals to the head of the line?
We don't need these criminals. Our economy is just fine without them. Don't call be a racists just because I want people to obey our laws. Build an electric wall to help keep them out. Nail the employers. DON'T give the criminals amnesty.
OK - have it your way - all Mexican citizens that are here that can "speak, read & write English." That cuts out most of them. No criminal record - that eliminates the rest since they are all criminals for being here.
No, bebita, it's more fun like it is now!
First of all....you are the racist for implying that mexicans have some sort of right to be here just because they are mexicans. In case you don't know, the term La Raza, by the nature of how it is inflected means in english, "The Master Race" similar to how the nazis used to mean it. Be very, VERY careful of who you associate with chica. These are very, VERY bad people who hate you for racial reasons.
Second of all, illegals who come here are mostly here to commit crime, particularly violent crime. This is easily seen in crime statistics. Although illegals are about 4% of our population, they make up 40% of the prison population. In places like california, 90% of the felony fugitive arrest warrants are for illegals (note that mexico refuses to extradite criminals to the US) while 95% of the murders are committed by illegals. This is extremely strong evidence that the average illegal alien is a hardened, violent criminal, usually associated with a paramilitary drug gang. Also note that less than 5% of illegals work at any type of gainful employment (besides dealing drugs I mean). The way you portray the issue of illegals is hopelessly distorted. Amnesty for these people is irrelevant. They simply aren't interested in this country other than as a source of victims. In this way, illegals are FAR different than legals. Legals are pretty much the same, criminalitywise as the rest of the US population.
Which brings up the issue of legal immigration. We let in over 1 million a year. This is over 10 times the amount that came here during the great migration part of american history when our country overflowed with immigrants. That's an insane amount that should probably be slashed to a fraction of that. But the point is that it is so easy to come here as an immigrant that no one who wants to, finds that they can't and hence, has to come here illegally.
Which brings up the issue of amnesty. Since there are few to none who would use amnesty, the issue is a red herring for those who do not want to control our border for various sinister reasons. But, what you obviously don't know is that amnesty, of the type they keep talking about, is already de facto in place. Any illegal without an extensive violent, criminal background can normalize his status at any time and eventually seek citizenship and cannot be turned down. What you propose above ALREADY EXISTS!
First of all take racist out of your vocabulary.America paid for the land we have from Mexico, you would know that if you studied history. No One has forgotten anything,we pay dearly to support any country,so much so that we dont even take care of our own veterans.Mexicans (you said it not me) take more from America than they ever give,if you can prove otherwise,I'd love to see it.
Yes, that's fair to let them bypass the people trying to do it legally. The very first thing these people did was to break the law. I don't know what illegal immigrants you know but the ones here can't speak English, we spend a lot of money trying to teach them, get free health care and do not pay taxes. They are using valuable resources and its ridiculous. The legal immigrants do not want them here and neither do most people.
Nobody is saying they're bad people because most of them are good people, but they don't belong here. If they want to come here, they need to wait in line just like everyone else.
Illegal mexican immigrantsA.K.A.invaders should get the hell out of the USA no exceptions!
I agree with you Leslie.
Study your history. Almost every country/nation on this planet, used to be part of something else. go back to biblical times, then. Does NOT in any way mean we should "give" it back... Umm and for your question, NO. They need to go back and come her the right way. My parents did (and did not complain one time while waiting) and they should, too!
