55 In Custody After Immigration Raid What are your thoughts on this?
Dozens of illegal aliens were found inside a northeast Houston house during an immigration raid on Wednesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said the aliens and their smugglers were found at a house on Hahlo Street near Hershe Street at about 6:15 p.m.
Officials said nine smugglers were keeping 46 aliens until someone could pay for their release.
"We didn't notice anything wrong, but we were suspicious because they blinded all the windows and all the doors in the back," neighbor Jose Tierrabinca said. "They didn't have access to see anything."
Investigators said the aliens were from Brazil, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico.
An anonymous call led ICE agents to the house in north Houston on Wednesday afternoon, spokeswoman Luisa Deason said. Officials believe smugglers were holding the illegal immigrants in the house until their friends or relatives could "buy them out," she said.
"The conditions inside the house were extremely deplorable," Deason said. "There was no furniture in the home. There were four or five bedrooms in which the aliens were being kept behind locked doors. There was a real bad smell in the house, and there was garbage."
Deason said she did not know how long the immigrants had been held at the house.
The 46 immigrants included 10 women and eight juveniles between the ages of 8 and 17. The group was made up of 11 Mexicans, 19 Hondurans, 10 El Salvadorans, five Guatemalans and one Brazilian, Deason said.
Answer:
Human smuggling is a crime and you can see why people from central and south america want to live in a free country .
People are still sold into slavery in developing nations . Sex slaves and house keepers are the same thing for wealthy owners who use the poorer people for whatever they want . As many poor people try to flee these nations no place exists except th U.S.A. for people to come .
Then people still take advantage of them here .
