Immigration Legal Process?

I have lived in the US for over 20 years as a legal resident. I am also a vetran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and served in the US Army for 4 years. I was honorably discharged in 2004. I have no criminal records and is in good standings with the IRS. Why is the background check taking so long? Does my vetran status helping avoid some of the red-tape? Is there anything I can do to expedite this process?

Answer:
Have you consulted an immigration lawyer? Many will give a 15 minute consutation for free. Barring that, can you go to INS.gov and see if you can look up your status.
I don't know, but, you sound like you deserve to be here.
i dont know what to say but dept of home land take longer time then yu expect i had a problem when i lost my citizanship paper its took two years to get a new one just hold on
Hey well some of the background takes months or days or weeks the resend they take long is because they are looking from 7year into the pass all the way till now on more then 7 year. good luck I hope every thing come out good.=)
You can file a Petition for Hearing with Court. The court will calendar the petition and give 90 days to US CIS to respond. If they don't respond, the court can take jurisdiction and adjudicate your application. You can have this wrapped up in 4 months.

Good luck.
