Is it possible to enter and leave the United States with a naturalization certificate?

I was granted a naturalization interview and I am scheduled to depart the country the very next day. I am wondering if it is possible to travel with my naturalization certificate because I do not think I will have enough time to get a U.S. passport.

Answer:
But how will you go out of US if you do not have a passport ? You need visas. Without a passport, you cannot get a visa.
Check this out about passports:

"A passport is an internationally recognized travel document that verifies the identity and nationality of the bearer. A valid U.S. passport is required to enter and leave most foreign countries. Only the U.S. Department of State has the authority to grant, issue or verify United States passports."

Besides are you going to get your naturalization certificate the same day of your interview?
The information states that a passport is needed to verify your identity and nationality ( not a naturalization certificate).

Depending on the country you plan to travel:

"Under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI)

The proposed implementation timeline has two phases:

Beginning January 23, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document, or an Alien Registration Card, Form I-551, if applicable.

As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries."

Hope that helps.

Please don't forget to choose the best answer among the answers you get.
You need a passport to enter any country. If you want to come back into the U.S., you will need a valid passport as well as your green card or visa authorizing entry.
