Should immigrants fully adapt to the canadian community?
Answer:
I live in Toronto and I personally have no idea what a "Canadian" means to you.
I'm white, 3rd generation Canadian on my dad's side, 7th generation on my mom's. Is that your definition of Canadian? Should immigrants adapt to my lifestyle? A little. It's give and take. New immigrants can get used to some things about living here, but I also want them to enrich my country with new foods, dress, thoughts, etc.
The great thing about Toronto is it's the most multi-cultural city in the world. Every time I go somewhere I hear many languages and see people of many colours. I like that.
Toronto is an Indian name and means "the meeting place." I think it's a very appropriate name. If we continue to refuse to speak in the aboriginal languages of Canada, we can at least be accepting to other languages. This isn't the U.K., so there's no reason for everyone to speak English. This is the New World where everybody comes together. Anyone with half a brain coming to Toronto to live will learn enough English to get by, but I would never ask those people to stop using their native language.
Seriously, dude, what do you mean by "Canadian"? Play hockey, speak English, dress grunge, and listen to Rush?
It sounds like your setting yourself up for a whole lot of disappointment with your current beliefs because Toronto's not becoming whatever you think it should be, and here's one Anglo-Saxon white boy with a few generations of Canadian ancestors agreeing with that reality.
I think they probably like your high taxes, or maybe they are avoiding the draft.
Well If they are crazy enough to go to Canada they probably think there is a draft.
Yes, this has become a problem in all 1st world western
nations as floods of immigrants move in and try to keep
their old customs intact...
