INS question?

my fiance is from Mexico and we heard that if we get married he has to go back to Mexico for a year and a half... is this true? How can he become a citizen? Does he have to leave right after we get married? What are the current immigration laws?

Answer:
My understanding is that he has to have come in legally, so it would depend on his current status, however, you should ask an immigration attorney or go to USCIS.gov
Not necessarily true, How long has he been in this country illegally? My suggestion is get an immigration attorney. They can help guide you through the process and keep your husband in this country. Or contact We The People they are less expensive than lawyers but they may have answers you need. It is my thinking that he wouldn't be allowed to leave this country for 1 and a half years not leave for that time.
move to mexico with him, we have to many aliens right now
Go to your nearest Bank of America branch office and ask them to help you with this problem.
You have to tell what is his current immigration status?
Not being a smart-alec, but calling the Immigration Service would be the 'ONLY' real answer. I wish you well.
You may wish to speak with an immigration lawyer to make sure you are doing what is required legally
