Why do you think Senators are so worried about winning the Hispanic vote?

Because they're congregated in specific districts. NY has a huge Hispanic population, as well as LA. There are other cities out there like this too. Bush hoped that if he could motivate the Hispanic community with the amnesty issue, they could replace their diminished voter base (the religious right is disillusioned with the republican candidates right now, none of them will back their issues a hundred percent. To do so would put the senators in direct violation of constitutional law).
So they tried to make the amnesty issue a way to seize control of the Hispanic vote.
And yes, while many say they're opposed to illegal immigration, the amnesty was supposed to tempt them with the idea that they could get relatives and friends who are living here legal status in one fell swoop. They were hoping they'd vote in a short sighted, selfish manner for the sake of self interest and not vote for what's good for the country.
BTW, it was a dead issue from the start. They knew it would never pass, so felt safe pursuing it. And it did succeed in being a distraction from all the other problems the republican party is having.
Dems would give away America in order to get some votes.
Cause that what politicians do.. They'd sell their own mother if they thought it would buy them votes.

First off,contary toi the lies of whacko talk radio, most latinos, and most AMERICANS, favor a path for citizzenship for undocumented imagrants.
Second, no one supported amnisty, because no amnisty was propoesed.
To answer your querstion...(duhh) Most elections are decided by 6% or less, and latinos are the fastest growing demographic in America...pretty simple huh
Those senators have second homes in the Washington DC area, many of which are staffed by immigrants. If you look at a map of the destination of illegal immigrants, many of them have the DC area as their destination. Kind of makes you wanna say hmmmmm!
13% is a HUGE portion of the overall population when it comes to elections!
To alienate that number of voters puposely would be stupid in the extreem!
Hispanics are the largest minority in this country. And soon their children will grow up and be voters, either Democrat or Republican.
Hispanics, or more properly Latinos, are the largest minority group in the US, surpassing blacks about 3 years ago.

Because the pollsters and demographers are predicting that the hispanics will outnumber every other race soon. They are counting on Americans to sit by and let it happen.
Liberals hate America and want her destabilized ASAP so they can take over the one-world-government they thirst for.
The only Senators that want the illegals to vote (with amnesty) are the Democrats. The Democrats have historically sucked up to minorities in general because that is their base.
So they want the 13% Hispanic and the rest of the minorities to make up the rest of their vote pool.
Sad thing is they really don't do anything for them.
