You sound afraid and unrealistic. Did you just finish reading Pat Buchanan or what? There will never be a north american union that is similar to the union the states share. its too radical an idea. I agree that our borders should be secured and illegal immigration brung to a halt, but do you sincerely believe that the u.s. can deport every illegal in the country? The illegal immigrant community, if you will, is as diverse as any other. Illegal immigrants are not all single, childless men and women who arrived only last night. If that were the case, mass deportations could be carried out ( how long would that take? How much would it cost?) without a second thought. The reality is that illegal immigrants are people, similar in many ways to you and I, with families that face being torn apart by deportation. You are offering a general and unrealistic solution to a very complicated problem. Anyways, illegal immigration will be a topic of discussion in the next election, hopefully it wont be as shallow a discussion as it is now.
