Should I hire an immigration attorney?

I am married to a U.S. citizen. We live in California. Is it better to hire an immigration attorney to apply for permanent residency?

Answer:
no just turn your self in and go home.
you can never go wrong having an attorney, if you can check out a few different attorneys, check with the better business bureau to see if any complaints have been registered, double check all the information you send off, so as not to wait 6 or 8 weeks to get a letter back stating you missed something
nah dont bother coming to this dump
if u don't know what ur doing, it's best if u find an immigration attorney to help you out.
Might be wise on your part.
Yes.
having a immigration lawyer will not guarantee you to citizenship. me and my husband(who is mexican)had an attorney and he screwed us over. be careful who you trust!!
If you are in this country legally you don't need to. Marrying an American citizen is a free pass. Save your money and contact your local Congressional Representative. He or she has people who will help you.
If you are illegal, hire the attorney.

Don't waste any time though. As of June 2007, the cost for a green card application will be raised to $900.
