What does a BACKGROUND CHECK include?

i'm on tyhe process of applying for an INternational Student Visa. My lawyer told me it was going to be delayed since they will do a background check on me. I'm curious what is included in a background check?

Answer:
They will check to make sure you are a citizen through hospital records, state records, and county records. They will check you birth certificate to make sure it is not fraudulent. They will run a criminal history through FBI , state and local law enforcement agencies, and they will check your school records to make sure you actually attended. They may do part of these checks or all of them. They may also check neighbors or others you listed as relatives and/or family members. They will also check your passport and make sure that is current. Most other countries require that our passports do not expire untill 6 months after the required departure time.

Sounds like you are getting ready to have the experience of a life time. Yep--I'm jealous
Any criminal record if you have one and I would expect your academic record.
This could include but not limited to, a criminal check, a financial check, school histories, residence histories, anything that could be on file in any city, state or federal data bank.
From the date you were born until the present day.. Everything you have done since you were born.
