How does everyone feel about posting soldiers along the border?

The National Guard that are /were posted on the border had no authorization to stop any illegal aliens ,it was just for show nothing more. Yes i agree bring our troops home from Iraq station them on the border with orders to secure it by any means necessary. That would solve the flow into this nation. Then start whole scale deportation of all illegal aliens .

The INS and Border police are the only force with power to arrest and detain. WE need more of them. Troops are not permitted to carry arms under State Law. Even the County Sherrif has no power to arrest and detain.. Hire more border patrols.
No they should increase the budget for border patrol agents and hire more border patrol, That is not a job for soldiers.

I've always felt we should use our National Guard
to guard our borders. This would slow the flow
into our country considerably. I do not feel they should shoot to kill but rather just to send them
on their way back.
The main problem is that the Border Patrol Officers are scared to use any kind of force, even when its justified, becasue they are in fear of retaliation from their own agency,,,so they put up with crap from the illegals, and the US gov't just sits back and watches and judges.. Point of the matter is , "illegal",,that alone says it all,,,,,
Stop tying the hands of law enforcement and take the actions allready allowed under current law and there would be no problem. Our laws and not being enforced and people (farmers, packing plants, car washes, etc.) are being allowed to hire illegals without fear of paying the price because our politicians are turning their heads and loooking the other way. This question would not need to be asked if our laws were being enforced.
Well I agree that we should defend and protect our borders, but I am not one for killing people, I would agree that a tranquillizer may be the answer to this..Knocking them down long enough to apprehend them would work.Bottom Line is everywhere else in the world you have people defending there borders, why not do it here..
The National Guard is for that very thing, but Bush has the NATIONAL GUARD in ANOTHER country right now. Yes, mostly for security reasons. They finger rape you at airports, but the border is primarily open. I don't get it.
That happens right now and all it does is create bodies. A wall isn't going to work. Shooters aren't going to work. We need to change the regime of our government and get a real one. Then we'll be able to fix the immigration problem.
Special interest groups and the ACLU would be on that for the USA violating the law; which is ironic since illegal aliens are doing it daily.
I would like to see the border militarize, Mexico says that it would be a act of war, but I think it is a act of war on their side allowing drug trafficking and human smuggling. I do not believe that shooting on site would be a good idea, we have the right to secure our borders but not harm unarmed illegals.

Not only do we need about 7000 troops on the borders, but these troops need the authority to not only shoot at illegals coming into this country that pose a threat to their (the troops) safety, but also be allowed to shoot at the mexican forces that fire at our border agents. There are too many restraints in place that interefere with our agents doing their jobs properly.

The shoot to kill after warning with an opportunity to withdraw does not worry me, but the army doing it does. We do not want to involve the army in domestic politics more than is essential. That is the way you start military coups.
Do you realize how many miles of border we would be talking about? Not only that, how close together are you thinking these soldiers would be to each other? Then you need at least three 8 hour shifts of people per day and people to work the weekends. On top of that, have you any idea of the terrain, the heat? We don't have that amount of manpower available.
