Serious question about the open borders ?

Answer:
I personally think our politicians in Washington are way off base when it comes to the immigration issue. There are a lot of questions to be answered and a lot of problems to be resolved, none of which I believe can be 100% effective unless we start from the ground up -- or go to the root of the problem. That, to me, means sealing the borders entirely to stop the present flow coming in [kinda like a turnique to stop the bleeding], and concentrat on what to do with the immigrants already here, by passing laws and seriously enforcing these laws future immigration -- legally or illegally. We must always remember [even though we're American we are not always right], that the Mexicans citizens are not 'all' at fault. We can blame the Mexican government, but not the man or woman who risks their life to make a better living. A Los Angeles cardinal -- I believe his name was Mahoney -- made a very interesting observation a few weeks ago: "We have held a sign up that says on one side 'No Trespassing', on the other side 'Help Wanted.' "
I've been in the work force for over forty years, and I've seen this problem from its infancy to the present. We can never forget that we're as much to blame for all this illegal-immigration as are the Mexican workers. But I agree something must be done; I also beleive the only way to do something is the right way: To save millions of future tax payer dollars and put this problem into its correct prespective, we must first seal the borders and then go to work enacting new laws and major changes in our immigration policies. I believe -- even though it is only a start, more than we had twenty or thirty years ago when this matter should have been taken more seriously -- our officials are again putting politics and much of the time partisan politics ahead of the issue. We must do this right or we'll have more and more problems and issues concerning this matter. Blowing a head of foam off a beer doesn't make it cooler or tastier... This bill is in trouble before it starts, because we didn't start at the bottom. seal the borders.. do it right.
No, it would not be seen as a Ellis Island program, more like a interment camp
Then if you are worried I suggest you stop Americans going to Mexico and screwing during their holidays which off course they bring back infection to the USA and off course deliver infection to Mexico as well.
This is the 21st Century its a two way street.
.
No, because people will have to apply for visa and be checked before they get here. That is what the Dept. of State does now with non-immigrant visas. And the people were not checked that closely at Ellis Island. Neither did they need many documents like they do today.
Europe works with open borders and does just fine. They would be a good example of North America. It would be nice not to have visas to live and work anywhere in North America. Just think, it would make it easier for us liberals to move out of the country.
The current border is like a white picket fence their for show. Check out some pictures and you'll see what I mean. It is barely considered a fence in my opinion.
I'm sure going to get a guest worker pass will be like going to the DMV, long lines and called by number stuff.
Disease is only part of the problem.
Job loss is more my concern.
welcome to are country for sale and fukey the whit man
when coming legally you need a health exam to get into a place, that's big for us especially intercontinental or people from certain countries. As much as we think about hispanics they are not so much on this list. Any viruses they have are similar to ours. but everyone staying usually does get a physical before and sometimes after they get here as well. But that's a signed doctors form you get and you give it to them when you apply for your visa in your home country at the american embassy. AIDS is like the only thing they'll absolutely won't let you in.
Of course if you don't have a visa there is no need to get a doctors note.
I always did, but even more so now. My 4 year old daughter was just diagnosed with Scarlet Fever. There have been several cases of it in Southern California. Small pox is back along with some cases of polio. These were all wiped out when I was a child. I have to believe they are coming in from other countries, particularly Mexico.
We are being sold down the River. Rio Grand that is.
What about Leprosy , have you heard about all the cases that Mexico has and they are bringing it into this country along with Syphilis , tuberculosis , mumps and measles . Most of these diseases were eradicated in the US . No wonder our health care system is overwhelmed and cost is rising higher and higher . Who's paying for it , the American Taxpayer , that's who !!
Amnesty should not be granted so easily. There is the big question of illegals carrying diseases which are unchecked and untreated. This a heavy risk factor and gravely putting the lives of Americans already in the country who are legally admitted after background checks and health test and other tests which is important so that the lives of other citizens are not endangered. It is important to give legal status and amnesty to deserving individuals who have a clean bill of health and have educational qualifications and skills that are in short supply in this country. if you leave the entry open then the Burglars, rapists, Murderers, Criminals will pour into USA and also demand Amnesty. Then America willbe the land of the Free and Home the Brave CRIMINALS and Terrorists and Americans will start their Exodus to other safer shores.
I personally only support something along these lines

We already have a way for people to enter our country legally. We have border patrols and immigration facilities who handle these matters.
The whole discussion and political football is about those who come illegally. Our country has 11,323 miles of open coastline, most of it ungarded and wide open. Our border with Mexico runs 1,950 miles; with Canada it runs 5,522 miles (the longest in the world). It is IMPOSSIBLE to guard that much territory.
What CAN be done and what has NOT been done is to enforce the laws already in effect about employing undocumented people. I am retired now but when I applied for my last job in 1995, the company hiring me required the following: My original birthcertificate issued by the state in which I was born and my Social Security Card. In addition, they wanted the last 4 months of electric bills in my name. They required the name, phone number and address of my last employer. ALL information was verified by the emplyer BEFORE I was hired.
Our government has ESTABLISHED requirements for employers to follow BEFORE they hire anyone. The purpose is to ensure that person is eligible for employment in the U.S.
The problem is the employer who hires from street corners, or hires under the table without following the rules. If the government would go after illegal employers, the problem of undocumented and illegal aliens would disappear in a snap. No jobs, no illegals.
Then, the government needs to get serious about documentation at our borders, airports, cargo ports. There are RULES and LAWS about security in those places - but they are not followed nor enforced.
The TSA is a joke, there is not enough Coast Guard to ensure our coastlines are secure. You can build all the fences on all the borders you want but you are not going to stop someone from entering this country for good or for ill until Uncle Sam gets off it's butt and starts enforcing it's own laws.
If we have to have them. Which it appears we are gonna have to live with them, whether we like it or not since our elected officials won't do anything about it. I definitely think we should have some sort of facility where they can be checked for diseases. But do you really think they will go and check in they don't really seem to care about our laws.Due to the fact that there is a high rate of TB and other diseases in Mexico we need to do something.
I say deport them all and if family members have a problem wiith it they can go too. Forget any form of amnesty
