Question for Pro/Illegal. If illegals were allowed in but had to pay ..?
You get your work, you obey the law, you don't get paid any wage other than what the employers agree to pay you and in essence you compete with Americans ...as we all do with each other.
Otherwise, out you go. Thoughts?

Sounds good if the process doesnt take between 10 and 15 yrs. The problem I dont think is the fact that it cost so much to apply legally or that, the problem is that it takes so long to do so. Even though Mexico is one of the richest countries, the people living there are not. Everything you have stated above is what illegal immigrants want, and if it was easier or faster to obtain, who wouldnt go through the legal channels?! The problem and the desperation they feel that makes them come over legally is that alot of time they or their hungry kids do not have the luxury of waiting the amount of time it may take. Yes it has been done, this I know, but each case is different as are their reasons for coming here. I will tell you one thing though, they do not come here with a "Lets screw up the US" mentality, and those that do bring drugs over are not bringing them over to use themselves or sell to their relatives. Who do you think their biggest client is?! What you're describing above is the American dream, who wouldnt say yes to that?!
One big problem with asking the illegal alien criminals to file tax returns is that they will pay no taxes since they make so little AND get a tax credit that will pay money to them.

Why does everyone think illegals don't pay taxes. yes there are some that do not but there are plenty others that hav gotten itin #'s from the irs and pay taxes on their earnings every year but do not get a refund. There are some that do have driverse license, insurance and do obey the laws. It is working for them so far so why not. There will always be people in this country that do not want to do what they are legally obligated to do, look at the millions of americans that get caught every year for tax evasion and there are countless others that have yet to be caught and possibly never will be. Nothing will ever change people. There will always be people in this country illegally, there will always be those in power that can be bought, there will always be corruption, crime and greed. This is how it will always be. If you want to live somewhere that has none of these things then I suggest you find a remote undiscovered island and start your own country and do it your way.
Your plan might work,but I don't think a lot of them really want citizenship.It seems that some just want to work here ,take what they can and then go back to their home country until they need money again.
Of course there are some good people that would love to be legal and do the right thing.But how do you separate the chaff from the wheat.?
Also whats in it for the illegal if he has to do everything the legal way? And not get to be legal.
I'm not saying it wouldn't work but people always want to know whats in it for them. I would prefer to just secure the borders (shut tight) and begin systematic deportation of most illegal aliens.(some may deserve to stay)
It would take awhile but it could be accomplished if the government decided to do it.But our government is too busy pandering to non American causes that they are either just stupid or oblivious to whats going on in real America.
There are plenty of drug users that are Hispanic,just as there are in every race or color or nationality.Drugs don't care who they hurt
or who they destroy.
